Grind Spots? Why No Gear Drops?

I've been grinding at some of the known grind spots and I haven't gotten a piece of gear, is there a forum post that is detailed enough to tell of spots that mobs spawns are high and can give players gear drops more frequently?

Honestly I'm asking this because I'm joining back on a new archer and I wanna play through all classes and I did a 6 hour session with a friend just at random locations and we noticed that most if not all of these grind spots don't drop gear. . . so if anyone can give me a list of areas that do drop gear I'd be happy.

 

correct me if I’m mistaken, but I think grind mobs (mobs with stars) are solely for grinding xp, not for items? At least not efficiently for items :)

 

as @TwentyZ6 said, starred mobs give bonus xp at the cost of loot. this was likely intended to balance out xp gain with gaining stronger items as you level up.

in 1.20, there are going to be some of the reverse added- loot grind spots. the mobs will drop 1 xp, but give like 4x item drops. note that they will only be added for early game when 1.20 drops, but plans are to expand them to the rest of the game. you can read more about them here.
