I think I just realized something big.

So, as you now, in the Sealed Letter Dicovery, Bob says:

There are realms beyond our comprehension, powers we can not hope to defeat. Two immense forces are at war, with our plain of existence being the battleground. There is a dark creature of the night in a land "far" away, it poses a threat to all.

I give you this letter as a warning and a farewell, friend. I am going to challenge the beast and attempt to seal it away using my own life force, for I know that is all I can do, killing it is not an option.

"Two immense forces are at war" huh? It's pretty obvious he's referring to the Dern Beast vs Orphion thingie and that he wants to defeat the Dern Beast. This is common knowledge, but it is less known that Bob also went to Gateway Island (one of the letters can be found there), and we also know that the island has a direct portal to Dern. Now, according to the SE Ultimate Discovery:

The Silent Expanse has acted as the gateway to Dern since the outbreak of the Corruption War. The Eye has watched all intruders.. and all attempts at escape.

"since the outbreak of the Corruption" This means that the Eye was there before Bob was even born, so the fact that we see the Eye alive means that Bob never went to SE, probably taking the path from Gateway Island. This means that Bob could only ever lock away the main body of the Beast, but not the Eye.

And we know he succeded.

Why? Because EO is locked, and can only be opened with a sacrifice, to cancel out Bob's soul.

Oh fuck.

 

Bob... died to the CoW tho. Kinda weak tbh. I doubt he got to the dern beast.

 

It hasn't been confirmed that Bob died to CoW. And I don't think he did anyway.

The Gateway Realm being Dern itself makes absolutely no sense. First of all, we can attack these mobs inside while we are level 90, yet we can't do the same thing in ROAD to Dern in level 100 quest! We need to remove a Darkness element and add a Light element to interact with Road to Dern mobs. And by the way there is another plot hole: okay, Ocean is safe due to portal on gateway island not being able to trasport creatures FROM Dern to our Realm, but that portal in Abandoned Mines CAN. So what's the point of sealing Portal to Dern in SE if there is still working portal FROM Dern that is MUCH closer to Wynn cities? Its not the end, everything is getting much more interesting as we continue. RtD is sealed but Roots of Corruption is not, and IT HAS a Dernic/SE Caves inside of it, so again it makes no sense to seal SE. Now for the leader of Dern, he's trying to spread his ifnluence though still stitting in Dern and not doing anything for that, even conversrly, he sealed a Portal to Dern by himself by building EO and placing The Eye on top of it. Now for Corruption and the Realms: Just what the fuck? Corruption was created when Dern and RoL "shoot" each other, making a brand new Realm with its Portal located in Wynn, okay. But why is corrutpion fighting for Dernic forces, if its a mix of Dark and Light? It must have become neutral force, destroying everything on its way, including darkness. Okay, let's throw a logic away and still we've got a question: if Corruption is a force controlled by Dern then why is it so weak? It doesn't affect Villagers and it casued much less troubles in Wynn than Decay in Gavel. Even Grooks say that Dernic creatures is almost unkillable, why Dernic beast is not using SE or Decay forces to attack Wynn? I think that's all.

 

Have you seen the SE ultimate discovery? You can literally see Bak'al (the leader of the Corrupt) bowing down before the Dern Beast. Also, villagers CAN BE AFFECTED BY CORRUPTION.

HE IS USING THEM. HE JUST CAN'T GET FURTHER THAN SE.

It isn't "controlled" per se, but it is following the orders of.

Also, on the subject of portals: both are functioning, it's just that they are sealed away

On the topic of portals to dern, there's actually a third one that's smaller in Slykaar's basement.

In corrupted betrayal:

That sounds a lot like dern, not to mention the fact that the area itself is quite dern like, lots of gray and even I think some obsidian spikes, but I might be misremembering. He does mention trying to create a new dimension for himself, but I think that that failed and lead him to dern, which supported his experiments and basically gave him the energy and resources to grow an army.

According to slykaar, he in fact did not succeed. However, it says that he's lost, not dead. I don't know of anything else that says he's dead, other than the regular people, but we know nilrem faked his death so no one would know. He's quite possibly still alive, somehow. Maybe in some sort of statis?

 

Slykaar’s journal would’ve been written before Bob attempted to make it to dern. Its also supposed to say “He is lost” and not “He lost”, which is because Bob has no clue of the true power of the dern beast at this time.

I’ve also noticed similarities with the realm of slykaar and charons realm, they are both very grey and has ruined buildings. Also supporting that these are the same dimension(dern) is that like bak’al Charon is an embassy of the corruption and may also be under the control of the dern beast.

 

That's not his journal, that's slykaar speaking to you at present day. I also took it that he didn't lose, he just got lost and never made it to the dern beast, so he didn't succeed either.

 

I want the dern beast to be a dragon.

 

I don’t think this is correct in the slightest.

1. In Alive Island’s cave, you kill Dern Beasts. These are very clearly dark creatures from Dern, yet you can still damage them unlike SE mobs before getting your soul cleansed of darkness.

2. The portal on Gateway Island is broken on the Dern end, which is why you are unable to go back, and is why no mobs can go through.

3. The SE caves inside the Roots of Corruption ARE sealed. Aledar gets rid of the seal in A Journey Beyond.

4. The Nether was not created as a result of corruption. It was previously a different realm before it got corrupted

5. Decay forces are magic creatures, not corrupted.

6. The Dernic Beast most likely didn’t seal himself, according to the Ultimate Discovery “Silent Expanse’s Secret” there must’ve been a tower that the Olm built that turned into the Eldritch Outlook.

7. Corruption absolutely affects Villagers. As we know from The Corrupted Village, corruption affects everything differently, so it’s possible you don’t see the effects until prolonged exposure.

8. The Dernic beast already used his forces to attack Wynn. Bak’al is the peon of the Dernic Beast, and he commands him to do his will. However, Bak’al was unable to spread the will of the Dernic Beast farther than the Olmic City, meaning the darkness was unable to spread past the Abandoned Mines and the Olmic people.

 

Charons realm is more of a deaths realm lookalike, and since charon is the one who carries lost souls across the river styx (basing myself of what charon represents), basically a deaths minion, why he's evil or his reasons are unknown, but he's not corrupted, neither influenced by dern (tho this is unclarified, tho certainly he isnt corrupted), but rather a sort of necromancer?, either way he's out of the picture in this thread
