So I Made Something (corruption Remade Without Plugin/mods)

    I love command blocks



    If anyone is ever interested, here's how it works:

    Spawn one AEC (Area effect cloud) with the tag "corruption"
    Run an RNG algorithm for 2 values: Random A and Random B
    If Random A is less than or equal to 10, choose 1 of 6 directions - up, down, left, right, forwards and backwards, then spawn another AEC with the tag "corruption"
    Kill AECs if they do not have "corruptable" blocks nearby

    Pretty cool! I’m thinking of maybe replicating it and destroying a singleplayer world with it. Is there a way I could copy that?

    Uh, about that...

    The method I use, even though is the only one, is pretty unoptimized. Under normal circumstances, your computer should be able to handle ~10k invisible AECs, but with the extra function and commands, your computer IS going to lag a lot. Even though I love using command blocks, I have to admit that they are REALLY limited.

    There is a way to make it better optimized, but it really just looks bad. It uses spreadplayers instead of spawning other AECs, which makes it so that only the surface of any given location will be changed. It also is very fast in the beginning, but gets slower later.

    Instructions: Place the data pack that you installed into your world folder's "datapacks" directory (the fact that you can use only one should be obvious)
    For the first one, type in chat: /summon minecraft:area_effect_cloud ~10 ~ ~ {Tags:["corruption"],Invulnerable:1b,Duration:1000000,DurationOnUse:0,Radius:0,RadiusOnUse:0,RadiusPerTick:0}
    For the second one, type in chat: /function corruption:corruption/spawn_corruptors

    Its been a while since ive done any command blocking (Since they changed the syntax a while back) but this seems really cool. Might I recomend making it so that the corruption only processess itself while a player is within a certain range and potentially marking/culling previosly corrupted areas (probably by chunk) to minimise lag? Other than that it might be an interesting challenge to try and make it mix blocks in and generate spires/spikes like those found near the nether portal in wynn (Would require the use of structure blocks and a structure generating system).

    Regardless of what you choose to do, Its nice to see people still using command blocks as I personally found them a great gateway to programming in general, Have fun! o//

    I am currently making another pack like this, which will move the AECs instead of replicating to minimise lag.
    Thanks for the idea though!

    You should probably use the Wynncraft resource pack to make it look realistic...
