If it would be on Wynntils it would be unfair advantage.

Well, they have to pay for the server and Salted/ Colin said the cost tripled in past month or two, so my guess is that they are trying to get many players for it as possible.

I am on this server for quite a long time and I must say that Salted, Colin and the rest of the Administration team are great. They communicate, they behave as normal humans, not mighty owners of the server. Don't insult them please.

 

I don't know if I agree that they communicate, at the very least they don't communicate in a timely manner, but I do agree that they're clearly not bad people and they wouldn't be doing this if they didn't need money. I really don't think the staff are getting rich off of this server.

I meant they they are not just silent beimg who run the server, but they actually chat with us, not that much but they do, especially Salted.
Yes, it could be improved by a lot (they did, monthly reports), but it could definitelly be much worse

 

I know that Salted has said he lives in a small apartment and makes enough from the server to live on, but like you said—it’s by no means a lucrative business. With higher server costs and more devs they’re in need of more money to keep Wynncraft alive. He’s just a normal guy doing his best to make a game that people will like.

 

I mean, if they allowed Wynntils to add bomb bell then everyone would have access to it. Bomb bell could have been a feature that they were planning already so they didn't want Wynntils to add it. Making bomb bell exclusive to a expensive rank doesn't come off as greedy and moreso just making sure that not everyone has access to bomb bell.

It would be even be better if they could add bomb bell to all players free of charge but i doubt it will happen anytime soon.

 

I think it's important to financially support servers you enjoy if you have the money and play consistently because of the amount of fun/value you get from it. Personally, I have not bought a rank because of mob totems. I like to play a pure as possible, not taking handouts, because I want to earn everything. It takes away from the game for me, and I don't want to support p2w. While mobs totems are probably here to stay, champion rank does worry me quite a lot with the bomb bell, /switch, and pets that may not just be cosmetic.

The discord servers for skill tryhards are pretty upset when people flood into a server that they threw the bomb for tryhard skill grinders, especially when it's because of the bomb tracker discord. As people in this thread that do buy ranks have said, they are also worried about p2w. Personally, I would not buy and throw a bomb if I expected a ton of champions to just flood in, people who probably play a lot, when I may want to support casual players. I feel like the suggestion of 5 extra slots for champion ranks is good. Could you possibly make a champion only server, if people want to throw bombs just for tryhards? Then it's just one server with consistent bombs for tryhards, they are still buying the bombs, but since it's just one server and has a max of like 50 champions or something, people that don't have it would still buy bombs on other servers. Sure, a bit p2w, but I'd rather have that than the current champion. I feel like that's a better alternative, but one issue that comes to mind with that is that if they have champion rank, they may crowd the high-level areas, so maybe multiple smaller servers for champions where bombs are shared?.

Or. a solution I prefer more, why not just add a supporter rank or something that's a monthly subscription just for people who want to support the server, that probably gives a few cosmetics but nothing else? I would buy that and I see others doing it as well to support the devs. Plus, rather than needing to keep adding new ranks for supporters to buy to maintain the server, where the income will fall off, you can just have one consistent one. Hypixel had a similar problem and made the MVP++ rank and it has provided them with a steady income while still giving good none-p2w features to them.

I'm sure there's more I don't understand, but I really dislike the way champion rank is being introduced. Also, it's probably a bit late for things to change, but I hope a semi-casual f2p player's perspective could provide some insight or consideration. Be open about needing a subscription rank. If costs have tripled, I don't see how a single new rank will help y'all for very long unless you pressure people into buying it with p2w, and I feel like you'll just run into the same problem later on I'm sure you'd get people. I hope a different solution can be found, and I'm sure it's a rough spot you're in.

 

I heard someone that Patreon is a good thing for this. Why not this?
