What Is Lore For Grootslangs And Collosus?

Title. I just want to know why we are going to fight these boys.

 

The Grootslangs have been peaceful creatures who live underground. However, the decay has pushed them up closer to the surface, causing them to create massive holes in Olux terrain. The Grootslang we specifically encounter and kill in "The Worm Holes" is a mother Grootslang who has been afflicted with the decay, causing all her offspring she gave birth to to be violent. If they were to live to become adults, they would have a high possibility of causing entire areas of Gavel to collapse. As mentioned earlier, this is pretty much all explained in the quest "The Worm Holes" prior to unlocking the raid.

The Colossus used to occasionally go on a rampage and cause earthquakes throughout all of the Canyon of the Lost. If the Colossus were to continue to cause these earthquakes and shifts within the Canyon of the Lost, it would collapse into the void, suffering the same fate as the Sky Islands. However, the Doguns were keeping the Colossus in check using their magic. Since the Doguns are (mostly) long gone due to the Dwarves, nobody has been able or willing to keep the Colossus in check. That responsibility now belongs to you. Most of this you learn from doing the secret discoveries in Canyon of the Lost, though I assume there are a couple Sky Island discoveries related to this that I have not yet been to.

tl;dr both are big bois who have the potential to destroy the entire province so we murder/constructively bully them.
