SPOILER Current & New Eltom + Molten Heights Rework

Here is a bunch of screenshots of the comparison between Eltom old and new, with some additional images of new Molten Heights (Rodoroc is still the same). I got the exact frame of each build for each picture of Eltom so if you download the pictures, you can flick between them fast and see exactly what has stayed and what is different.

AGAIN, BUILD TEAM, YOU DID AN AMAZING JOB. THAT GOES FOR ALL THE OTHER CONTENT TEAM TOO :)

 

Apart from you having including Eo as that last screenshot instead of Rodoroc (how do you mix those up??) I like the Eltom rework and it looks a lot more vibrant, and quite fitting for a location purely designed as a respawn point for the Hive!

 

Hmm, the build team seem to enjoy the EO Parthenon style quite a bit. I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a bad thing as it looks rather pleasant and grand, but I hope it isn't overused.

Yeah they do seem to use that style a lot recently but I am ok with it because it looks so awesome

Too bad the only 3 uses for it are The Hidden City quest, Emerald Pendant, and respawning after dying in the Qira Hive

If nothing changed after the new update HERO beta was released, the Pendant of Prosperity ant the Hexed Amulet both have a possibility of having 21% LB, barely higher than Emerald Pendant's 20%, but still, it is an identification with range, thus harder to get than a stable ID.

 

Yeah so it'll still be better to use Emerald Pendant bc I'm not paying like 3 more LE for 1% LB

 

A lot of this thread is just showcasing my builds and I am all for it. 10/10 best thread I have seen so far

 

Really like where they placed EO in 1.20, the silent expanse was a bit dark anyway.

 

Ice Bear really likes the builds especially the texturing for molten heights but the only thing Ice Bear finds weird is the head statue at the entrance to molten heights. Ice Bear just finds it odd to be in color rather than pure stone cause it looks a bit too friendly?

 

Yeeeaaah the issue was that I didn't know I had to include the head on the build until I actually finished the structure, so I kinda just had to plop the head on afterwards in a bit of empty space that made sense and didn't block the view too much. The pure stone palette just didn't fit whatsoever with the vibes going on there so it got kinda retextured into that

Honestly, the Frozen Heights look quite out-of-place, at the first look I thought they were 2 images fused together.
I am not saying it looks bad, just... strange.

Could you please post more images of it? Maybe it is just the angle or something

 

And old gavel used to be [insert any generic buildstyle that was followed within Gavel]. Saying things look like eo because they follow a similar buildstyle don't really say much.. It's the build style that people tend to incorporate into their builds now, just as old gavel was categorised by slab spamming, overdetailing, bad terrain, //replace % terrain, etc. I would rather take structures that look like one of the most impressive things in the game over over-detailed eye sores. It's like saying different bits of terrain are inherently the same because they are both handsmoothed.

 

I mean... they do kind of all have the same architectural pattern. Contrast e.g. Llevigar, which is distinctly different while still looking quite good and not being slabspam detailing.

 

ngl i really like how the side view looks like a dragon mouth. i'm assuming it was intentional, but even if it wasn't, i really like the effect.
