Why We Don't Need More Spell Clicks

    So I saw on discord @HMTN made a list of what spells would be if there was middle click as well.

    and that got me thinking, what if we add more?

    Well there's some pretty big issues with adding this many spells, both command wise and the fact that remembering this many spells, much less the CT making unique ones, would be pretty terrible.

    The only other click i could think of being used for this would be F, or switch hand.
    Switch hand is yet to be used, but I think using it like this would be a terrible idea. With middle click and switch hand, the list would look like this:

    I think this is an ungodly amount of spells for one class, much less having 5 classes to make all of them different. just by adding one other click combo, th number of spells increases to 48, which is a lot.

    But what if we tried more clicks?
    If we add a 4th click to the mix rather than a different button to hit(example, RRRR), the amount of spells increases exponentially.

    3 x 4 x 4 x 4 = 192

    This is not even ok anymore, you literally would unlock more than 1 spell per level. I think the spell system is alright as it is for now, having 18 spells(like you would get from another input) is a bit too many, so I think the spell system is fine as is...

    i mean cool tables but i really don't see anyone actively thinking that new spells should be added, besides some haha funny class suggestions where it is only used as a device because OP wasn't able to fit their class into current wynncraft.

    the problem isn't the number of spells it is the fact that you need to click three times to cast them at all

    prob worth contributing but a friend of mine suggested making more than 4 spells per class (say, 8) and allowing players to choose 4 from these which are then binded to RLR RRR RLL RRL (or archer's equivalent).

    for the sake of an example, let's pretend for a second that archer could also use the 4 mage spells. i might then make my spell pool something like arrow storm + teleport + bomb arrow + heal. this means that for me, RLL would cast heal instead of arrow shield, etc..

    I don't think a 1.8 server would be able to handle the switch hand packets, at least it probably would be difficult, and it would be annoying for quickly casting spells.

    Middle click doesn't exist/work on all mouses (thank you apple, very cool). I feel that all of the mac users would appreciate being able to play fully.

    I think that instead of adding more spell combos, adding OP versions of the current spells 9not just a few extra affects, but a full revamp of the spell) could actually work nice for high lv classes

    it is 1.8 internally; it simply supports 1.12 clients

    They are right, we run on 1.8 but only support 1.9+

    You guys are getting it wrong, it's indeed a 1.8 server.
    If you right click a diamond sword you will be slown down, like how you would on 1.8 combat.
    The parrots and concrete are hard to explain, but it's just that if the client is on a updated version, some of the new features will also be used to make the server look better

    middle button??? like nearly all mouses have a scroll wheel? which isn't very comfortable or easy to click

    What you made there doesnt work. All spells must be activated with "R" so basically a lot of those cant exist.

    no, only in the CURRENT system do they have to be activated with r
    the reason l can't activate is because it has a different effect, melee

    but since f and m would only be used for spells, it wouldn't have another effect with greater priority

    in short, it isn't that they have to be activated with r, it is that they have to not be activated with l

    This is actually an idea I had for the spell system as well! i think switching out spell slots would add a cool new mechanic, while still being not too broken

    yep! hence why the equation is 3*4*4*4 instead of 1*4*4*4

    Maybe clicks is a bit too much, but I’d LOVE to have interchangeable spells :D
