What Lore Would You Make For Sky Islands?

The Sky Islands are definitely my favorite region. They're serene, peaceful, and absolutely gorgeous. Before 1.20 however, the Sky Islands had basically no lore compared to literally every other region. Considering there will be 7 secret sky island discoveries, there will probably be lore added. What lore would you guys give the Sky Islands?

 

Not really about the sky islands, but I want to know why there's a giant tower that leads to the moon and I want to see an update that gives the moon the void treatment having it turned into a real end-game area. I might actually be the only person on Earth who wants this, but I think it could be cool to fight some weird tentacle aliens on the moon and have an area with permanent jump boost to make combat more interesting. Could also give the breathing helmet II another use which isn't related to water since while I want to see a high level underwater city and area in the ocean, I think the gameplay of that would be a nightmare.

Sorry, I think that you can't enter the moon apart from in the Recipe for Disaster quest if you choose Brie.

The Moon is a location that can be accessed when doing Brie's recipe in the Recipe For Disaster quest and after finishing to climb Astraulus' Tower.

no you can go through the tower whenever
but you always get the two ingredients from doing the task thingy there along with the rocket fuel

The Sky islands were once akin to the Light Forest, where it was bright and noice. But then a cosmic energy struck the islands, causing the islands to shatter and tremble, resulting in a gravity-defying sky islands, and a deep, dark void.

The only reason as to why it's still floating is a gravity crystal in the islands, and the local plant life is being transformed as a result of thie crystal.

The Sky Islands ruptured a thousand years ago, yeah, but we still don't know why.

We know that it was a cataclysmic event, and that it had something to do with the "villagers' desire for wealth." Probably something to do with the Decay, then, especially as the timeframe matches up. Weird that it happened in the far east, though. Interesting weird.

We know that the void is really, really freaky. It's apparently the buffer zone between the physical realm and the capital-r Realms that exist through the game, and has its own properties, which warp denizens long-term. The Shattering was apparently strong enough to tear open the physical realm badly esunough to access the void, a wanton disregard for the fabric of reality only equaled in the direct presence of the Dark Beast and its influence. This speaks to The Shattering being full stop the greatest cataclysm ever to befall anywhere in Wynncraft's physical realm, with the only other cataclysm that compares being the genocide of the Olm and creation of the Silent Expanse. Even then, the expanse is implied to have warped gradually, unlike the Shattering's "all at once" deal.

Gavel, throughout its second half, makes fast and loose reference to all manner of divinities. From From the Bottom to mythic lores to all the madness of the molten heights, Gods & Demons and their ilk have had a massive impact on the history of Eastern Gavel. We know that they were mortal, since Garaheth died, but nearly every other major entity mentioned in lore is MIA by the time Wynncraft's story comes about.

Add in the "Fallen Protectors" teaser, which may or may not have any bearing on all of this, and it almost paints a vague picture of what might have gone down 1000 years ago.

If I was on lore team, I would add a secret discovery in the void near a fallen villager's remains, remains that when a sufficiently spiritual condition were fulfilled would rasp out a warning:

A Tool, Deftly Wielded
One thousand years ago, the greed of the Villagers was enough to shatter the Ahms region, as well as unleash a curse onto the Realm of Light. To this day, greed remains a fundamental bedrock of Villager society.

The discovery would answer some questions, but it would more importantly tie in the region's tragedies to the greater conflict that looms over the game, as well as tie in to the Silent Expanse that the player is to soon visit. It also hypes up the Dark Beast even more than its already hyped up, and heavily implicates it in the conflict surrounding Gavel.

A discovery about the villagers' greed slowly ramping up starting maybe ~2000 years ago and leading to a slow death of their gods would also be absolutely blessed, but that doesn't seem like Sky Islands-specific lore.

But yeah I agree with everything you said, the sky islands are a place with no war, no decay, no corruption, just peace everywhere, and the void islands are a direct foil to that

 

The biggest issue with sky islands lore right now is that the explanation of "the islands shattered because gReEd" is a total meme

 

Absolutely, but greed influencing villager society to the point where villagers would weaken the fabric of the realms and shatter/decay Gavel due to their own selfish actions is also a very easy explanation to do really well.

 

I personally would not add any Lore. Why you ask?

Because the only thing we know, is that a mysterious and powerful beast destroyed the Ahms Region. We have very little information but we see what happened when we are in the Sky Islands. I like that because its mysterious and nobody knows for sure what happened.
