It should be safe to afk in towns and cities, but I wonder why there hasn't been anything done to stop repeated afk killing

I went afk when I was waiting for a rare mob to spawn at Kander Forest with full crafted lb set and a build to switch to for flying mage. I went back only to find out I've 100 death messages with only a horse and some untradeable items in my inv. I've lost around 2stx worth of stuffs from that

Now I just afk with a cactus build with mad hpr on that class (in spots that I think might be safe, I don't use this build to kill mobs while afk don't ban)
