Im New And Looking For A Bit Of Advice

Hello, I'm pretty new for 3+ hours, and I'm kinda lost just grinding getting better gear, and doing quests.
is there a list of things I should be trying to do?
because it feels like I'm just doing the same stuff

Actually though, quests are the best ways to level up (For a first class, mostly because the story and less grindy than... grinding). If you prefer grinding, I can go find a link to a list of good grind spots.

 

There’s no real list, but the quest book has a lot of cool quests in it. It’s also great to just wander around the map for all the discoveries and hidden builds there are. The Wynn map is over detailed if anything

 

Do all quests, explore a lot and try to grind only if necessary and don't do professions because it is unnecessary grind

Dungeons are also super fun, they require quests to enter though so I would check out Arachnid's Ascent, The Dark Descent and The Kingdom of Sand when you get to those levels which will let you do the three corresponding dungeons which are all fairly fun, especially the Sand Swept Tomb.

As someone who played the early game recently I’ll give you some tips:
1. Do every quest. If you do every quest that’s unlocked at each level and run each dungeon once after you unlock it you’ll be able to get to about level 40-42 without ever having to grind or do anything “boring”
2. UPGRADE YOUR GEAR. A good rule of thumb that I’ve come to use it replace commons the second you get a better common, you can use uniques for about 5-8 levels before they start to become weak, rares work for 10-12 levels, and legendaries work for 13-15 levels.
3. Always keep 6 health potions on you and replace them with at level potions every 10 levels (for example you sell all of your level 20 potions at level 30 and use the profits to purchase level 30 potions).
4. Never be afraid to health pot. Health pots are your best friend when doing quests/dungeons as you move into the later game. Don’t think that you can avoid the next hit from the boss and kill him, you’ll get hit and die and wish you used that health pot.
5. Save up your emeralds and once you’ve done the stable story quest buy a second horse if you’ve got enough emerald blocks and breed them to try and get a black horse. Worse case scenario you lose one brown horse and have to use the other. Best case scenario you get a black horse and have great movement speed!
6. Don’t overthink things. The puzzles are normally very easy and the official Content Team application even tells you to make sure that the puzzles are easy.
6. The wiki is your best friend. If you’re ever unsure about where to go next, or need a hand with a puzzle, the wiki has your back!
7. Make friends with a mage player. You will thank me later.

An attempt at a black horse is 24 EB, I said make 1 attempt, not try and get a white horse at level 34.

Still, 24eb is quite a bit in lv.34

As other people have said, I’d suggest doing every single quest if it’s your first time playing through, is also recommend doing secret discoveries, because it adds a whole new aspect to the game. It gives contexts to locations and quests there. The lore, as I’m sure @TrapinchO will agree, is an amazing part of the game.

 

I wouldn't recomend something you haven't experienced yourself, because you said you haven't gotten past level 40... no offense.
