It was a chilly night.
In the Silent Expanse, there is no day. Nor night.
And yet... despite it's name...
it is far from silent.

Wandering in the darkness... are eyes. Pupils dilating, cones and rods shifting.
They look at you. Their eyes screaming either "Stay safe adventurer" or "I WANT TO RIP YOUR HEAD OFF"
The Road to Dern is dangerous. All who entered have fallen. Dern lies beyond it. No one has any idea what it looks like.

Then... in the forest... two figures emerge.
They are human. And not monocular, unlike most of the other creatures in the expanse.

As they trot in the depths of the expanse, their footsteps echo in the ashy ground.
Both were adventurers, whom had come to fight against the corruption. They were extremely lucky to make it this far.

To one of them, they would perish by the end of this expedition.
To the other, death is but a minor inconvenience.

One of them was you, <playername>. You stood there.. in awe of the might, the wonder and the oddities of the Silent Expanse... your glittering diamond armor shining even in the most remote and desolate place.

The other... was covered in blood. Beaten up by the creatures, he was on death's door. This was his most difficult trip yet. He managed to survive.

Both were advancing to the only haven in the expanse. You were going strong... your feet clattering against the mud.

While wheels turned- wait wheels?
