Why Did Glow Squid Win?

most people regret voting it now that the axlotl was revealed
honestly i wish mojang showed the axlotl at the start so that only the moobloom and iceologer had a chance
glow squids spawn in oceans btw but they are completely useless and destined to be overshadowed by everything else in this update

 

I chose for the glowsquid because I didn't see any good potential in the moobloom and I thought the new illager to be anoying to deal with the same way phantoms are viewed now.

 

Honestly, I already forgot why I liked glow squids, especially considering they look much less interesting than the rest of 1.17. I guess they looked cool?

Mojang smallbrained it by giving us the potential outcome of two new aquatic creatures, one far more interesting and cute than the other, but revealing one of them too late, and exactly that happened

This is just speculation, but I feel as though the glow squid won because there were certain youtubers telling their fans to go vote for a certain mob (e.g., YT Dream).

 

The internet thrives off irony, so I'm really not surprised. Just wish they'd chill sometimes, it really isn't that big of a deal, y'all.

 

Youtubers such as SystemZee have made some videos about their ideas for the mobs and what they could be like. I personally hope that the glowquid will drop a special glowy ink sac that could be useful for making colored lanterns and colored redstone lamps. Colored lights have been a popular idea for a while, and the glow squid could help make colored lights be in the game that actually glow in that specific color.

Also, there is a reason why Mojang let us chose one of these 3 mobs. It's because Mojang had good plans for each mob. Mojang wouldn't let us chose between those 3 mobs if they thought that only one of them would be good. I trust mojang will know what to do in order to make the game great. They've been doing an amazing job for over 10 years. I'm sure it's going to be great no matter what mob was chosen in the end.

 

Squid in real life can regrow arms too, Mojang just never gave them any abilities other than spraying ink.

And axolotls being cuter is entirely subjective.

 

A lot of the votes were encouraged by youtubers. A major one was Dream.

On twitter, he constantly spammed to vote for glow-squid and he would follow people if they voted for glow squid. (He did not). A huge portion of his fans voted and he even convinced Mr. Beast to vote.

This made some YouTuber’s such as AntVenom quite frustrated as he’s not careful of what he does since he does have a huge fan base of over 10 million fans and he abused it. It’s not common for games to have the community vote for game decisions so Minecon was such an important event, and he ruined a yearly Minecraft event. He apologized later saying he didn’t except it to be this serious as he was only joking, but it made a lot of children and people upset.

As for me, I did wanted glow squid because not only that it’ll really spice up ocean to be more beautiful and visible, but it could also be used for decoration tricks with it’s glow, but when I found out it doesn’t actually glow and is only as bright the ender’s eye, it made me quite disappointed.

As for Moobloom and Iceologer, I think adding more entities to the mountains would make it really annoying considering that goats can already push you off the mountains along with traps with the new snowier snow block. Moobloom was a solid choice too, but I’m not really sure why I liked the glow squid so much. I think I thought it could be added to caves to make it better, and a new glow mechanic was really cool.

 

ICOLAGER WAS SUPPOSED TO WIN! ICOLAGER SHOULD HAVE WON!!!

 

I totally voted for the glowsquid myself, mostly because I was somehow under the impression it would have dynamic lighting. Otherwise I would have gone straight for Moobloom, Iceologer was never my favorite. Maybe we will get some new drops or something from it, though, peeps have been bringing up colored lights (which would be Very Cool!!)

 

glow squid just has the coolest texture in my opinion

Many people I know, including myself. voted for the glowsquid because we assumed they were going to function as a new light source, but Mojang jebaited us.
