I just dislike how my starter is always level 50 while everyone else in my team ends up at level 20
If I want to keep the entire team on the same level, I have to do quite a grind in those two games
That was exactly my issue with gen 4 and 5 yes

Quick Update: I'm at the point where you've gotten the bike and here's a few more things I noticed:
Even if you get the HP of a pokemon to less than halfway and even have it sleep, it will STILL resist being caught. I literally spent 8 pokeballs on just a Kricketune and it still wouldn't be caught after I put it asleep twice! I thought putting a pokemon to sleep was a guarantee!

Anyway, the game has starting to become a cake walk. I have my team assembled and the only fight that has given me trouble so far was Jupiter because of that skunk pokemon. The exp sharer makes it a lot easier to grind and I have every pokemon type covered at this point besides poison and fairy.

Does anyone know any good Dark types I can use for the Ghost gym?

You are playing Platinum, right? I think the only Dark type available at this time is Umbreon. To get it you must obtain the Eevee in Hearthome City and max out its friendship (running around and battling - the Soothe Bell given to you back in Eterna Forest accelerates this). Then, you level it up during nighttime (if you do so during daytime it evolves into Espeon, which is weak against Ghost). If you just need Dark coverage, the move Bite should suffice.

Just a heads-up if you were wondering: there is no Fairy type in gen 4 or 5.

That Kricketune seems to be imitating Houdini. If you continue to have trouble catching pokemon, make sure their health is red before throwing poke balls.

    Thanks for the advice!

Really? They didn’t add a single fairy Pokémon for 2 generations? That’s pretty weird.

Fairy Type wasn't in the games at all until Gen 6.

Kricketune has a low catch rate cause it's an evolved Pokémon. Sleep doubles the chance of catching a Pokémon but doesn't guarantee it.

I'm gonna completely ignore the actual topic of the thread and talk about that last poll option cause I have opinions on it:
Rock type symbolizes the actual element of rock: notice that most Rock Pokémon are visually made of rocks. Ground symbolizes Pokémon that live in or interact with the ground, most of them aren't made of it.
There aren't actually many Pokémon that are made of air. If air was a type maybe there would be more. I could definitely see air existing as a type for the same reason ground/rock do.

So all the fairy Pokémon were just normal type?
I guess but it’s even more confusing when you consider that ground is effective against rock even though the ground is made of... rock. It’s not even a different state of matter like ice and water.

I could definitely see some Pokémon like Drifloon; definitely makes more sense for it to be air than ghost.

Most of the Fairy types from gens prior to 6 were either normal types or monotype Pokémon that had Fairy added as a second type.

Ground is supereffective against Rock because things that live in the ground can burrow through rock easily / geological activity (i.e. earthquake) destroys rocks.

    that image is hot

    Information if you need:

Gen 2 is Gold, Silver, and Crystal for the Game Boy (Color). If you own a 3DS you can get any of them on the eShop as virtual console games, though Crystal is the "definitive" version much like Emerald and Platinum.

These games are basically direct upgrades to Gen I, and there is a great surprise once you defeat the champion in GSC. At the very end of the game, you'll encounter an even greater surprise.

In Gen 4, HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of Gold and Silver. They offer more content as well as a better defined story. I was quite fond of gen 2 when I played Crystal, but I didn't grow up with it so it's not my favorite gen.
