Guide How To Uppercancel

Ok, so a lot of you probably do not even know what uppercanceling is. Basically, it is using bash or melee to interrupt the launching of Uppercut's initial hit. Doing this allows for smoother dps as you cancel the upward knockback but still deal all the uppercut (Initial, firework and comet) damage all at once.

How do you do it?
Uppercut bash: Uppercut (wait about .5 seconds) bash
Melee: Uppercut (wait about .5 seconds) melee
Bash uppercut: Use the second bash hit to cancel the uppercut. This is not the recommended way, but it is useful to know (thanks @Druser).

The reason I made this guide is because I haven't seen anywhere how to do uppercanceling besides the warrior cult discord. I even made a thread asking how to uppercancel and started conversations with many people before I learned how. I hope this helps.

Note:
Things like lag and ping can make uppercanceling harder

 

Doesn't attack speed also have something to do with it?

 

Not that I know of, I mean if your weapon is super slow you might not be able to keep up with the speed you're able to pull off uppercuts, but other than that I do not see any inherent problems with attack speed as long as you melee at the right time. (You can't just mindlessly whack at the boss though)

It bothers me a bit that the class has a mechanic that's often better to cancel.

 

It doesn't bother me too much.

1) Sometimes it's useful to juggle enemies in the air, especially if you are low on health
2) Uppercanceling adds a layer of skill to an already interesting to play class

Though I do see the issue.
Honestly, the thing that annoys me most is that some enemies get knockbacked easily, so when you try to upercancel, you can't cuz they keep getting knocked out of the uppercut range by bash's knockback.

Regarding Bash- > Uppercut, generally one uses the second hit of bash to cancel the uppercut for that. It doesn't need as much cps as Uppercut -> Bash but it's harder to work around the knockback, generally.

You can use uppercut itself to uppercancel. Upper cut then instantly uppercut again to cancel it using uppercut.

 

Do you mean that it cancels the casting of uppercut, or that it achieves the effect of "rooting" the mob to the ground like what is achieved in the video?

I tried testing this in-game and the mobs just went flying in the air and were only affected by one uppercut.

EDIT:
I've heard this method requires bad ping or something since the uppercuts need to basically be casted at the same time

Haha, this is bumpable!

 

The only thing that's cancelled is the upwards knockback, not the damage.
