Melee can be very strong, the only example i can think of right now being Alkatraz uh.. Tierstack? Is that what it's called? I havent played for a while
But in my experience, spells are usually just too good. Unless you have a weapon that is known for being incredible in melee builds, i usually stick with spells.

 

Alkatraz is a good example of ridiculously high damage builds, but a poor example of normal melee builds as to reach those heights in damage it suffers from glassiness and low or non-existent sustain.

And spells are good, but melee can be good as well, there is a case for both.

In Wynn, there is no best build, or best build type, it always boils down to preference. Especially since many suboptimal builds can solo LI and EO.
