It is a big project but these items needs to be priced so i can create a website that will price items by name. Thanks! :D (everyone that helps will be in the credits section ;)

These have to be priced too :D

Pretty awful idea, since items are insanely ID-dependent and prices shift very often. This would only lead to more market manipulation.

Yeah, it's a good idea in general, but market prices shift too often, one could hardly say the current market is stable.

    EDIT:
Plus relevant threads have already been made

Hey I have a better idea

What if we made a website which prices mythics according to mythic price emporium standards, but it takes into account the identifications.
Each item gets a formula which assigns different weights to different identifications, then to use it you enter each identification and it gives you an output

Key point is that it uses mythic emporium standard so people don’t get upset at me and instead at mythic emporium

Oh hey wait a second I’m a web developer I could help

    the link doesnt work

you say that but how are you going to coordinate everything and get this working? the last time i saw an idea like this was from __excel and his process was much more thought out. how will this site work? how can ppl contribute? why would it be a worthy addition to the game (you'd need to address saya's point btw, you can't just assert it's good)?

Well, we can start with grabbing price ranges in let’s say a month. So what i mean is that a crawler (kind of bot) takes a certain mythic and price it every day for a month. That way we can see the most common stable price out of a month. Example: WynnTiles uses percentages per item. We can do exactly the same but then on this way. Believe me i know how we can get this to work ;)

I think that this could work, but would require a decent bit of time, and observing the prices at least twice a day for a month. I'd suggest starting with ingredients since those are more stable though.

Here's the pros and cons of what this project would put on table:

    Pros:
    • Price checking by humans becomes obsolete, if machine learning is implemented to give an accurate estimate of an item's worth.
    • Players can very easily learn the price of an item without having to wait
    • Makes trade market trading a cinch
    Cons:
    • Requires extreme dedication and work
    • Machine learning needs absurd amounts of calibration to account for literally every possibility
    • If OP tries to host this on their own computer, it will catch on fire (read: too resource intensive)
    • Market experience can, and will, become jank in its early stages
Worth noting that if we go down the "machine learning" route, we will need tons of metrics analysis, trade market watching, etc. But there will also be a ton of false checks (for example, a 41% overall Absolution with amazing, if not perfect main stats but bad tertiary stats that don't matter might end up getting checked at 7 stx, when a human checker would give it either 11-12), outliers that break the system, and a ton of QA testing to make sure the machine "learns" correctly.

It's an interesting concept, but the way Wynncraft is, it will most likely take a ton of work, dedication and perseverance (not to mention brain power - both artificial and genuine) in order to bring this project to life.

So basically it's going to take an insane amount of processing power and time, not to mention about a Wynncraft-sized lump of code, to get it to work well.

not sure ab you but even if it was doable idk how i'd feel about relying on AIs for pricechecking
saya's criticism has basically gone unchallenged so far

I know how to use scikit learn. would that help? its actually really easy, just give me a csv with the data and I can probably get a score of 0.8.

This type of thing could probably be done on an i5. I've processed thousands of 8 dimensional data points in a matter seconds

Also google gives free access to high power cpus, gpus, and if we for some reason need to, tpus (although i don't think we need to use tensor flow)

Note: It will require a data set for each mythic, but that should be fine. Basically we can set up a poll asking how much people would charge for various items with certain ids

I mean that’s basically all they are useful for
    ________________________________
Let’s take a second to differentiate machine learning from a price formula.
Machine learning would mean that you create a bot that knows (learns by itself) the weight of identifications, build archetypes, what identifications work well together, what rolls work in which builds, market price fluctuation, and much much more.
A formula would simply be written by hand according to the mythic emporium prices, and could be manually adjusted to fit market prices. You could even add some statements that say stuff like, it both of these IDs are near perfect, boost price by 1.5 multiplier or stuff like that - what ever mythic emporium says.

So let’s ignore the fact that you pointed out about machine learning taking processing power, and notice the fact that you would need an expert with deep understanding in tools like tensorflow, as well as an insane amount of data to “test” (and “teach”) the bot, which uh.. we seem to be lacking.

And hey, if this becomes an actual project I would be happy to help develop, and host things like this.

I just whipped together a model this morning that can make predictions on 1000 house prices in boston per second. it's not the most accurate, but these things aren't as bad as you think.

    here

Also, i just told you guys you can get free access to google's computers using their collaboratory.
Theres much better tools for things like this than tensor flow. I usually use sci kit learn.

    1) You should not trust the ME guide 100%

its more of a guideline than an accurate guide, not to mention i may not always remember to update it so sometimes prices may stay outdated for even weeks.

    2) What sort of formula? There is no way to determine a certain price as its a free market, not to mention as items change different ids may be valued more.

    3) We already have the ME thread why do we need a seperate website

my understanding is that the website would be 100% exhaustive by offering a valid pc for any given item without requiring manual pricechecking
at least it better be, otherwise you have a point that ME outclasses it
whether you believe achieving this is reasonable is another matter
