What exactly does stealing do?

This one simple trick will easily line your pockets with emeralds! Chinese lootrunners hate him!

 

Just wanna correct this since it's a big difference.

Whenever you hit a mob (can be done with spells, each individual hit from multihit spells like arrow storm and war scream counts.) you have a chance equal to your amount of stealing to get an emerald. You can get up to 5 emeralds per mob so that it won't be abused too much.

It's generally looked down upon because your inventory fills up rather quickly. But I found it to be great to have like 20+% stealing when leveling at a 'grind' spot. (Where mobs don't drop loot but much xp) When grinding with alot of mobs you can theoretically make up to 36 emeralds every arrow storm. In reality it's more like 8, but that still adds up pretty quickly.

 

Stealing can also help if you use the greed major ID. The chances of getting emeralds does scale with attack speed I think (not 100% sure about this though)
