Wait... Prosencephalon isn't a damage option!

 

More customs and initial thoughts:

Prosencephalon - https://wynndata.tk/ci/525390701 I'd expect it to see good use as a mixed damage-leaning piece, though it's not really the thunder damage helmet we had hoped for - those looking to fill that niche will likely continue to rely on old options like Sizzling Shawl, or otherwise rearrange builds entirely to avoid the need of a thunder damage helmet, much as happened before.
Guillotine - https://wynndata.tk/ci/186334225 A nice piece that fits the ETWF combo really well, with a hybrid playstyle and good offensive and defensive power, though it may be challenging to find one with good rolls.
Phantasmagoria - https://wynndata.tk/ci/665561799 Some good mana and damage but hampered quite a bit by that lifesteal penalty, alongside pretty much unusable raw melee. I think this is clearly the weakest of the five.
Paradox - https://wynndata.tk/ci/349776060 An interesting piece that is in the awkward position of being pretty good in spell and pretty good in melee, but probably not quite as good as Guillotine, Ophiolite, and Dragon Dance overall.
Ophiolite - https://wynndata.tk/ci/529211258 Nice mana and health regen with a side of some damage, with walkspeed and lifesteal penalty as downsides. Should be good.
Dragon Dance - https://wynndata.tk/ci/149243963 Powerful offensive and defensive capabilities but with dangerous health sustain drawbacks, this looks very fun to use.

Guillotine: Yep everyone's going to use this, two 6% chances on two base 2 rolls is a pain but... the item itself is soooooo good.
Phantasmagoria: Hahaha PoFV funny touhou!! But seriously, kinda disappointing. Negative lifesteal makes it a pain with fire not being in the quad. Damage also isn't nearly as good as the more offensive options, while paradox doesn't have the lifesteal penalty.
Paradox: This is going to see use. 100%. Perfect stats for eTFA spell, and dropping atlas/tenuto for hybrid might finally become mainstream? Not straight-up guillotine level of execution but that's fine, not everything can be a virtuoso.
Ophiolite: Looking quite eWFa, which is great. Lowest damage, but who cares. 5mr helmet with hpr and enough spell for what it is. 20sp. Wow, we're seeing a lot of skillpoint powercreep, huh?
Dragon Dance: Bruh this name is even less funny than Phantasmagoria. Anyway the negative sustain is the only "downside" to this absurdly strong pair of damage boots. In a quad that has fire. And the saddest part is that everything predicted for this was correct thanks to the... name... Highest on the "virtuoso radar" (aka overpowered item that's easy to build)!

TL;DR:
Guillotine is really strong but good luck finding good rolls
Phantasmagoria is too balanced
Paradox is going to see lots of usage
Ophiolite is also really great
Dragon Dance is the next "virtuoso".

 

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the irony in the fact that an item named Guillotine goes on your head?

 

These quad items should be fableds imo.
Anyways. Guillotine looks really freaking nice and I expect will be a very nice option for some fire spell builds in particular. However the quad etwf will become very powerful with this item. Mana steal should be nerfed to 1 tho and regen buffed to 4 for the sake of not wanting to die when we roll it.

Phantaqaskjdfa;iljskl is...neat? I feel like those 2 to 8% damages should be replaced with something a little more interesting. I guess that spell % id is nice but with all the reqs I would most likely be better off going for a trielemental playstyle. tldr needs a buff.

Paradox in non intel spell is just gonna be nuts. The mana and lifesteal with the damages just holy crap...almost too good? However I tend to think it will be fine as it locks you into quad. I forsee alot of abuse with this item...however I am not quite sure its broken yet...but maybe?

Ophiolite seems cool. That 5 mana regen is kinda nuts (then again the req is high so meh) and the damages are really nice. While the damage is low who the hell cares with FIVE FREAKING MANA REGEN!!! Okay yeah very epic.

Dragon Dance seems kinda weird but overall I like it. I don't think its as broken as some others here seem to think. Like the -regen and ls may be difficult to counter due to the high sp req. Also virtuoso didn't sp lock you and you had instant busted spell damage. Dragon Dance has a total req of 180 which overall should be fine in my opinion to keep it balanced with these stats. Maybe just remove the mana steal as that does feel like a bit much.

edit: Just realized dragon dance has 4 regen adn 1 steal not 1 regen and 4 steal...okay yeah its busted.

 

i've only made one build with it but i want to raise some points from that build:

cumu helps lighten the sp reqs. with that combination it feels mostly just like building regular wfa with a net sp penalty of 15 [edit: in hindsight i have no idea where i got this figure, ig i'm being stupid], which is a lot easier to work around than it originally sounded.

it's easy to counter at least one of the two (they should've been bigger penalties imo) with standard options you can find in twfa, then just tough out the other one. i use sf to counter ls in my example and i'll probably find some hpr secondary to address hpr.

i'd appreciate any kind of nerf to this item but i feel sp needs to go a bit. just quoting myself from discord:

Concur with Qzphs, and I think removing the positive skill points may be a needed nerf to these items (other potential changes aside).

 

ngl I'm not as hyped about paradox as other people in this thread seem to be

its not quite as powerful as leict or dark shroud in their respective niches but fills the middle ground very well esp if you're using atlas/tenuto (-tier is overrated, etfa mana regen build ftw)

I guess the raw melee damage is nice

Also the -hpr% is going to hurt, a lot if you're not a class that can heal itself

More thoughts: Right now the eTFA pants options are more or less uh

leic (biggest dmg and skillpoints, ws, no fire)
cinderchain (dmg+hp and some skillpoints, no air or earth, -water)
dark shroud (defensive build, best skillpoints, ws, kinda crazy)
gemini (not as defensive as dark shroud in my experience but sustain and ms if you need that, decent brainwash patch)
gotv (gemini except hpr and mr instead of ls/ms, high def req, best brainwash patch)
steel wool (maybe? niche)
(tera if you need earth damage, but why would you)

The new leggings would probably knock gemini out of this set so thats cool
ls will become relevant when okr gets nerfed
having higher req than brainwash is eh
-hpr% is also anti-brainwash-synergy

Maybe this opens up some possibility for ridiculously strong atlas+paradox+flashing boots? idrk (the earth defense is cool)

EDIT: It would be cool to see some more support for mr-based etfa [unless that was never the intention, in which case :( ]

EDIT[2]: something with -1st spellcost could be interesting as an alternative to hepha/slayer
(str deters hepha, -hpr could deter slayer but idk)
atm its a bit harder to boost -1st% while retaining damage/sustain/survivability

This can already be done without the new helm. The problem with this kind of glass cannon build is you dont have a lot of sustain

 

I don't think we need to ask them to become rainbow friendly until we get an update on rainbow items. However I tend to think that these will see a fair amount of rainbow abuse...

 

Well, I want to see a legging that rivals rainbow sanc

 

Hopefully the other crappy rainbow leggings get reworked for that...

random question i thought about, but if what looks like all the quest items in the game are becoming trade-able; are quest ingredients becoming trade-able too? things like the royal cake slice and familiar essence

they dont have the untrade-able tag in game or on wynndata but ive tried to trade them before and it doesnt work

also atlas nerf?
