I am a returning player to the wonderful land of Wynncraft, I started about 4 years ago but quit due to time and such, however I am returning, and am wondering what class should I go? I used to be an archer, but have played quite a bit of that so would like to learn a new class. I'm looking for a class that is primarily good solo, as I don't generally play with people. Any advice on which class would be appreciated - thanks!

You should use any class you want. If you want to go Warrior, go for it. People say it's a bit worse than the other classes, but that makes it all the more fun to play, and by no means it means that the class sucks.

For your first class I would choose mage or archer. Mage has huge utility and is probably the most useful class to have, and archer has really strong dps while not being that hard to use.
    In general -
Shaman is the best for grinding mobs and warring.
Assassin is a strong dps class while having good survivability, but it's somewhat difficult to use for newer players (some combos are kinda wonky).
Warrior isn't as bad as people say but I find it really boring and it has very little utility, so just stay away from it.
Mage is the best utility class (free inventory space due to heal spell replacing hp potions, teleport is a good utility spell, meteor can do decent damage).
Archer has really strong dps but it's glassy (imo 2nd easiest class to use besides mage).

These are more of just brief overviews of the classes, since if I were to go in depth there would be about 20 essays instead of this.
Despite what a lot of people will tell you, mainly because it's a meme or they're judging it based on a comparative standpoint, Warrior is actually really solid in the early-late game periods. You will be able to just straight up tank and trade damage with the majority of mobs, as your base defense is ridiculously high (further increasing your defense with your fourth and final spell, Warscream). While it is more melee orientated, spell spam still works thanks to how hard uppercut (third spell) and charge (second spell) hit at these points in the game. The main issue with Warrior is that in the endgame everything gets massive power spikes, mainly through elemental damage or health, and trading damage isn't viable without investment in defense most of the time. Still, it is a great class regardless, and you will be able to solo the majority of content in the game with relative ease unless you go full blown glass cannon.
Mage is the other best class for newer players, as heal is a very nice convenience and the extent of your spell combos for most players is just using ice snake (fourth spell) into meteor (third spell), using teleport (second spell) to reposition. Ironically, Mage is actually the worst class in the early game, as your damage is abysmal even with meteor once you hit level 21, but most players are fine with this due to the aforementioned heal. Once you hit level 36, meteor falls faster and thus increases your dps, so I would highly recommend waiting till then to give your final thoughts on if you enjoy Mage or not. In short, it's a simple and effective class to use.
While you have already mentioned how you want to pick something besides Archer, I'm going to talk about it anyways, in case someone else reads this. The main issue with Archer for newer players is that you have low defense. You'd genuinely be surprised by the amount of newer players that complain about Archers base defense and how they die all the time. While Archer does have massive range, its easy to get swarmed quite quickly in the earlier stages of the game due to a lack of AoE (Area of Effect) spells.

That changes entirely once you get bomb arrow (third spell) at level 21, which will allow you easily dispatch swarms and makes Archer a lot easier. Level 21 and above, you should have little to no trouble using Archer, as your range allows you to sit safely on another continent away from enemies and bomb arrow will demolish any swarms that prove to be a threat.
Assassin is the most combo centered class, focusing around your usage of your movement spell, Vanish (second spell). Vanish allows you to dip in and out of combat with ease, using it for either setting up an aggressive stunlock or deploying a more hit and run approach. Later, Vanish will also give you a ludicrously high 80% damage boost for a brief period of time once you go out of combat, furthering this combo orientated playstyle. Spin attack (first spell) will later blind enemies as well (level 16 and above), further helping how you go about either stunlocking or dispatching enemies. However, Vanish does cause your mana to drain while in it, which is often the bigger issue for newer players when it comes to using their mana to their utmost advantage.

While this does seem intimidating, or for most this is basically just the equivalent of me being a useless tutorial robot, its actually not that hard to "get good" at using Assassin. There is definitely a higher skill ceiling, but Assassin's base defense allows you to make mistakes pretty often (not mentioning that Vanish automatically breaks aggro, which is inherently broken, but I digress). While you can't outright trade or face tank damage like Warrior, you certainly can tank far more hits than a lot of the other classes.
Lastly, there is Shaman. Shaman can be very difficult to use in the earlier stages of the game, as the entire class centers around you using your first spell, Totem. Totem management is quite difficult due to having to place it in one spot and then not being able to move it again without replacing it. This is also not mentioning that you have the worst base defense across all five classes, meaning you can easily be bursted down or just oneshot. Haul, your second spell and movement spell, also pulls you towards your totem rather than away from it, making it pretty bad in terms of, well, avoiding enemies if you don't know how to use it properly.

However, like Archer, Shaman becomes much easier once you get your first true AoE spell, Aura (third spell), at level 21. Aura has great range and high damage, allowing you to demolish groups of mobs easily (which makes sense, given this is the CC class). However, Shaman still has its base defense as an issue, meaning if you play carelessly you will be nuked off the face of the earth. This is mitigated by your Totem gradually healing you after level 16, but that won't save you in every scenario.

The strongest part of Shaman is unlocked at level 56 in the form of the "aura prison", which will trap enemies around your totem and keep them there even if they use a movement spell. Some enemies can escape this with ease, often because they have high walkspeed themselves, but you will effectively lock enemies permanently with little to no threat if you go spell spam. That's actually the main thing that makes Shaman polarizing, as melee Shaman will need proper timing of Aura, and even when to not use it if the enemy has pull, but spell spam Shaman is piss easy (which is the case with all classes, but we're not really here to talk about that). I wouldn't recommend starting out with Shaman, but if you want to, go right ahead.

But at the end of the day, just pick whichever you'll have the most fun with. I would recommend at least trying out two classes before settling on one. Personally, I have the most fun using melee Shaman/Mage and Warrior in general, but that's up to you.

My suggestion is Mage. It is a bit more difficult at the beginning (it stays interesting) and once you get to higher levels the class will unlock its full potential and you have a ton of different playstyles to choose from. Another benefit is the heal spell (you dont need to buy or carry potions) and the teleport spell (good movement spell - makes you much faster).
Conclusion: play whatever you think is the most fun, my suggestion is mage

I suggest Assassin if you're into the combos and spells and whatnot. It's a really solid class to start with, but you also need to play at least somewhat strategically because you don't have a heal spell and you can't facetank damage very well from what I've experienced.

Recommendations aside, play what seems the most interesting to you! All of the characters are interesting and fun to play, if not with slightly differing skill floors. Everything is also very reasonably balanced unless you're specifically aiming to hunt or duel (pvp stuff).

you cant really go wrong with assassin. high damage, high base defense, good mobility, stays relevant in endgame. ability to permastun enemies with spinattack.

same thing with shaman, youre basically a glass cannon but instead of being made out of glass youre made out of a 10-year-old phone battery. you will die a lot with shaman unless you put points in defense, but shaman's ridiculously high damage puts you in a who lands their hits first wins kind of situation with mobs.

so assassin/shaman. not really much to add since shots already pointed out their main strengths and weaknesses, but both these classes deal very high damage once you understand how each spell works and start getting used to them.
