    Hi all,

I play minecraft 1.16.2 with optifine prerelease 4 on a raspberry pi 4 2Gb. This works fine, I have played for hours and hours on a different server with this setup.

However, now my kid wants to play on wynncraft. This does not work, and it's because of the texture/datapack.

The pi is very slow in loading resources, ie texturepacks. So when I connect, it connects to the server fine, then loads the texture pack, causing minecraft to trigger a reload of textures and such. And this process takes so long, in the mean time the connection to the server gets lost.

I have tried uppacking the pack file to the /resources directory, and activate it manually. This works fine. I can, for instance, start a single player world using the texture/datapack from wynncraft.

However, somehow wyncraft does not see this pack is already loaded when I connect to it. So it will still trigger the reload, and then time out.

So my question is: is it possible to preload the texturepack locally, so it doesn't have to be downloaded - and reloaded (!) - during connection?

Either that, OR is it possible to set timeouts to longer somehow, so it won't timeout while reloading the textures and such.

Last question: I understand wynncraft runs minecraft 1.12.2. Is this information still correct? Unfortunatelly, I can't run that version on my current raspberry setup, as I use a 64 bit OS and the lwjgl library for 1.12.2 is not available for download for 64 bit ARM. The one for 1.16.1 is.

In the Multiplayer menu, you should be able to click 'Edit' and toggle 'Server Resource Packs' to Disabled.
This will prevent the server from automatically downloading the pack, and you'll be able to load your copy instead.

Additionally, Wynncraft supports all versions from 1.9-1.16, 1.12 only being recommended. 1.16.1 should work perfectly fine, and if it doesn't please submit a bug report here.

this video should fix your problem

And iirc, wynn is most STABLE on 1.12.2 but does not run it.

Thanks for your speedy replies. Indeed, disabling server resource packs and then adding the resourcepack manually, solved the issue.

I can now sucesfully log in. Once logged in you do get a message about the texturepack not being loaded but you can switch this off, the message tells you how (/toggle something).

One question; are there mods in the pack which do explicit GC? I notice that it tends to shortly freeze every now and then, in my experience this has to do with garbage collection, for normal services I now have this running smooth, but with disableexplicitCG.

Ofcourse, a RPI4 can be considered as the absolutely bare minumum, so I don't expect 400fps. With mods it might even be a little below minimum, if that's the case, so be it.

On a vanilla 1.16.2 server I get 15-35 fps. On wynncraft too, but then also sometimes small freezes. That's why I asked for explicit GC.
