Whats the best way to create a high dps bow? Do you recreate a mythic, go for pure dmg, or something else entirely? Do you use powders in the recepie or powder it afterwards?

High DPS depends on build type.
I know that a lot of people like to make crafted spring (because spring is decent, and you can actually get a better version of it using ingredients), so that is something you can go for.
Also, I wouldn't recommend putting powders in the recipe itself - the just decrease a ton of durability, and they also make the skill requirements insanely high. Putting powders after is what i would recommend.

Getting high dps IS generally powder slap, unfortunately... Armor and accessories can usually provide enough support (Mana, sustain, elemental damages etc) to get really good dps on a weapon but not have to think about actually making a creative weapon

Powder slap isn't as good anymore, it usually isn't worth the durability hit. High-int spell damage bows are really good because ingredients like behavior chips and glacial anomaly are extremely powerful and relatively easy to get - I use a 125-int bow with a load of spell damage and a nice amount of mana regen, although you could easily make it stronger if you don't care as much about durability.
