how do i adopt THE LAD

 

The Lad is absolutely wonderful. pokkers to whoever built it

 

For a small comparison:


This is of course an amazing aesthetic change, but I'd like to specifically point out this would probably be the cave where you can get the Beachside set, which is currently only dropped by a few mobs in a small beach between Maltic and Nesaak, which would make it fit better with the ways Spore, Vexing and Bony (to an extent) are obtained. Would this also mean we're getting a pigman-specific cave? Who knows.



While I do think this is overall an improvement of Maltic, I have to sadly agree that parts look really out of place- mainly the house at the left goes in against Maltics style, moreso copying Elkurn (which takes away from both towns). The roads and well look fucking fantastic, though. Nice to see some love for the other small forgettable earlygame village.

If these "news from the ct" posts are going to end up monthly, that would be really cool- the format of showing a couple smaller changes works very well with kicking up some hype, while not making the expectations too high (which had sadly been the main focus of any kind of teasers for a long time). I do want to warn that, like this Maltic revamp, those specific teasers will probably also receive criticism, so be prepared to end up still changing some things :p

Maltic's change does look out of place but making places like it less forgettable is really important
The concept of these posts sound amazing, can't wait to hear what's next

I as well am concerned about Maltic, I think it would be wonderful to give it some love and an update, however, the style in which this has been built is indeed very similar or reminiscent of Detlas. Since all the buildings within Detlas are protected by the walls it makes sense to have rich-looking buildings with many floors as to utilize the small space of safety. Maltic, on the other hand, I have always seen as a small unprotected settlement, one which was built on the shores of Wynn as new settlers arrived most likely out of necessity. As an agricultural village where many strive to move into Detlas and as a town which is often noted as significantly poorer and more underdeveloped than Detlas, it would, in my opinion, make more sense to have the town expand outwards rather than upwards, as building housing with multiple floors is a sign of wealth, particularity of Detlas' wealth. In an agricultural community having housing with only one floor is much cheaper as well as much more practical. In short Maltic has always embodied a poor Detlas countryside rather than Detlas itself.

I have always loved the crooked rooftops and the fields of Maltic and it would be extremely unfortunate to have that vibe entirely removed to make Maltic look more like every other city.

Despite my long complaint about Maltic I'm really grateful for this post and the changes and efforts made by the Wynn Team to listen to the actual playerbase more, we all love the newfound transparency. The updates look epic and I'm excited to see more of it!
