July 2020 - News From The Content Team

Hello people! We're gonna be trying something new and dangerous: monthly* updates from the CT where we show some of the upcoming stuff that will be coming out in a future major update! Now, keep in mind major updates may take up to a year before coming out, and that content often gets cut out. But we've heard from the community that you guys understand this well now.

This month's post is going to focus mostly on what to expect for 1.20, and some early game changes we're doing. Future ones will be more closely related to 1.20.

*We might skip months sometimes. Especially before and after an update comes out​

1.20 Info​

We won't talk directly about future major updates often in these CT threads, but since this is the first one...

Some of you may have heard that 1.20 was gonna be a bit more of a small-ish major update (I sure wonder how y'all know this) and that was indeed the original plan. But over time the scale of the update grew and it became quite bigger than expected.

1.20:
- will not contain a huge new area (like 1.19 The Silent Expanse)
- will have a lot of new content mostly for mid-game and end-game.
- will also make a few improvements to what's currently in-game
- is still months away, but we're planning to release a special patch that will include a new feature (if we can finish it in time, which is not guaranteed), bug fixes and a store update before 1.20 comes out. We've recently switched to a more expensive host and hired a new dev, and so we need to improve our revenues a bit. More info about that coming later!

We think you guys will love this update. "Of course you would say that" you might think, but I do mean it. Some of our CT are working non-stop on things you've never seen before in Wynncraft.​

Early Game Changes​

We're a bit scared of being completely unable to hide the theme of 1.20 over time with these updates, so we'll start with some minor unrelated changes we're also doing on the side.

As y'all may know, we recently updated the tutorial to reflect the actual Wynncraft experience better. We plan to do the same with tutorial 2: The Emerald Trail. @ConquistadorBob has been making many improvements to the area. Most of those are minor, but they do add up.

The goal with these changes is to lead new players towards general exploration instead of grinding. Most of the area got slightly touched up to lead players off-road and to make the general area more enjoyable.​

We're of course working on many other things more closely related to the actual 1.20 update, but for now we'll only show you this great picture of an ancient golem, which we internally call "The Lad".

You might learn more about the Lad later on! Keep in mind what we've shown today will only come out with 1.20, which is months away. See y'all next time for another less early game focused CT update!
