    Hey!

Over the past few days, I have been working on a Christmas-y Village, some parts of this are definitely have lots of room for improvement, but I had lots of fun making it and I think it turned out looking nice.

Whilst I like this build a lot and had so much fun making it, I think there are some things to improve, such as:

-> The terraforming was just slightly lazy GoBrushing, but I guess it is not that big of a deal since it is only a mild backdrop
-> These structures aren't different enough from what I usually do, I wanna dabble in some other styles but I am not sure where to start; I have structures in a variety of styles stand alone, but making them into a full fledged scene is much harder
-> The town feels a bit flat.. Towards the back, I have some increases and dips in height, but otherwise everything is on the same level
-> Some structures are also pretty small and I didn't pay as much attention to them as I could have, since they were just intended to fill some background space
-> The roads look a bit bland, and the space inbetween houses is meh
-> I don't usually do spruce trees, so they didn't turn out the best

As always, feedback is very much welcome and I look forward to having my build critiqued!

This is just a little bonus thing I made for someone in my building trees thread that I loved a lot and wanted to share lol

First off, the composition on the bonus build is great. You have a main subject, being the tree in the centre and you have some complimenting characters as well being the trees surrounding it. The tree itself looks really nice as well. I like how you are using the fence trees. (You wont believe how many people plainly refuse to make trees with fences). Bonus build is pretty good, I got no complaints.

The terraforming here is leaps and bounds better than the build before. Even though it is, simpler it is WAY better, I love the colors you used in your terrain. The pallet of the terrain is super unique and the pink granite works really well with the black rock. Even though its good, its not perfect. I dont like how the center peak juts out suddenly from the contours of the mountain, it looks really unnatural. Also I think that the contours of the mountain can be accentuated more, even though this mountain has better contouring, the //smooth command has almost completely smoothed it out, so after the smooth, just try going over it once or twice more really quickly with gobrush to highlight the contours.

The road is actually perfect, any more detail and you’ll be over detailing it.

The vegetation and trees are good, if you are doing something like a tundra, then the shrubbery thing I said in the last post doesn’t really matter because the bushes and saplings are most likely dead, or buried by the snow, but If you are doing anything but a tundra, then do what I said in the last post. The pines look great, and the way you’ve done the snow on the leaves is good. No complaints there.

The structures are some of your best. They look way better than the mountain village. There was one REALLY good house in the village, the one directly in front of the christmas tree, with the emerald symbol on the door. That house is probably one of the best houses in the scene.

You need to make the diagonal houses bigger, because the houses with diagonals look extremely cramped, making their shapes look odd. I'm not saying to add more detail, ITS OK to have blank spaces on the walls, no amount of detail will fix the diagonal houses, if you dont make them bigger! If you make them bigger, it helps DEFINE their shape more and improve their looks.

    Thanks so much!

I'll try my best to make more large-scale diagonals, they are probably pretty fun as well. I didn't like little bit jousting out either, but to be honest I was too scared to teach the mountain any further by the point I realised that it looks kind of jarring. I'll definitely roughen up the terrain a bit more in the future though
