So, we all know that rules in Wynncraft are a bit fluid but they are strict about being "better" than other players thanks to mods or tweaks.

So, we know that any kind of mod that highlights items is forbidden. All mods or tweaks that make you better than other player is forbidden. We know that.

So, there's mod called PickUpNotifier that works only in singleplayer and shows items that we already picked up. This is something that already happend. It's not tweaked or changed.

So, my question is - is this legal to make something like that for Wynncraft?

So, in my humble opinion it's not making player better and it's not breaking the rules - you still have to pick up item. It's not marked on the ground or something. Some players are dropping crappy items on the ground around the battlefield and sometimes they are picking them up again in the middle of combat. I would like to know if I picked them up again by mistake or not.

So, we have ingredients message on the screen, so why we should not make custom mod for loot notification?

Here's screenshot of this mod mentoined above.

I just looked through the rules to be sure, but with something like this I think you're good. Item indicators were (and still are) banned because -they cause a lot of server lag (iirc) because they're constantly making requests to the server-, so as long as this mod isn't sending constant requests to the server for information (it's entirely client side) you're probably good. Best bet is to DM a mod though.

Edit: Didn't cause server lag, just gave an unfair advantage.

Yup, I've the same statement. It's not calling for server, and not making any requests, it works simply clientside - parsing stuff that you have picked up on your screen. Same like Wynntils is working without server requests. As I remember items in inventory are clientside as long as player isn't dropping item or selling it. So if PickupNotifier is able to show picked up stuff clientside I think it should be possible for Wynncraft inventory. Also message to the client that you picked up item is also clientside, as I know. Maybe I'm wrong, fix me if I am.

So, I dmed colin350 about it.

    I think this is ok.
I don't use really any mods at all, but I think that this should be fine.

The ingredient pouch already does this. It's just making it so that it works for all items.

Just want to clear this up - item indicators don't make any server lag or requests to the server (they are 100% client side), and they aren't banned because of that. They are banned because they give an unfair advantage to the players using them - they let you know what an item is before picking it up.

I never really kept up with what was going on, but it's good to know what the issue in question actually was. Thanks, I'll make a correction!

Sadly still no response from Wynncraft staffs, despite I dmed one of them. Maybe one day we will know if it's for sure legal :)

And Salted was added to DM, so maybe he will answer one day!

I mean I don't see how this really gives you an advantage over other players so I wouldn't see why not imo
