Best Class For My Playstyle?

I'm sure you read the title, so I'll tell you my playstyle.

I like to do alot of damage, the forfront of battle. It's the most entertaining way to play Mmo's to me. I got archer to level 60 but felt that it was just boring.

Any help would be much appreciated!

 

Sounds like assassin to me. You can deal a ton of damage by spamming spells in melee range, but you take a ton of damage and can get shredded in a matter of seconds if you aren't smart. Give it a try, see if you like it! :)

ngl the only way to get shredded while playing assassin is either
a) playing etw
or
b) playing without ever using vanish with common sense

 

fyi archer probably does like the msot damage in the entire game but ok. Ngl every class does insane damage, but shaman shits on everything but archer in terms of damage and also has amazing sustain, heal, and crowd control. Shaman is fucking broken, but really you should just try every class and just get every class to 100 to have all classes available. It helps.

 

Assassin does tons of damage. People say archer is better but that doesn’t mean assassin is bad, it just means archer is better. Assasin tanks a lot better and you can move around fast too. Shaman does even more damage but it does so fast you can’t play on the frontline. If you don’t like assasin, stop after level 60 or so. By then, you’ll already have experienced it well and also experienced the ability upgrades.

 

He was talking about doing damage up close in the face of the boss. While archer can do this in the early game, at endgame, archers more stay back and strafe. Btw, assassin is also proven to do the most single DPS damage.

 

This is plain wrong, archer has a spell called arrow storm, which you need to be close up to deal dps with. Spamming only bomb arrows isn't going to net you the best dps for some builds. And what the hell does "most single dps damage" mean? Nighthawk + arrowstorm outdpes anything in the game including assassin. OP is talking about dps in general, not dps in one hit, which frankly does not matter at all.

Edit: endgame archers usually don't stay far back, a lot of them have agi, or if they don't they still lose tons of potential damage if they just stay back. In your own terms, archer "strafes" forward to shoot arrow storm and "strafes" back.

Can believe this monstrosity I am reading. First off, I have no idea where you get your insane idea that archer does the most DPS. Have you ever used a cata assassin build. Also, I didn’t expect you to take every word I said literally when I said archer stays back. Ofc, archer goes up to use arrow storm, but when it does, it stays at a mid distance. You don’t get up right in the bosses face and arrow storm like you would with shaman or an assassin. That was what the OP was referring to.

 

Uhhh... no. arrow storm hits 30k on average. cata is around the same, but not everyone has cata. It's a mythic.

Pure dps archer fucking destroys everything. If you want to take dps super far literally use nighthawk + freedom/divzer/strati any of them fucking kill cata in terms of arrow storm dps. Literally 50k arrow storms, which compared to like the max 30k cata spins it can hit, it denolishes assassin in terms of damage. You don't need to use a cata assassin build when you can see the damage on wynndata, this is a shit argument. Assassin may deal more single hit dps, but overall dps archer fucking annihilates assassin dps. The fact that you rely so much on cata, and the fact that nighthawk+most good archer weapons match or outdps it is hilarious. For fucks sake, freedom without nighthawk can hit 35-40k arrowstorms pretty easily too.

Assassin is always a good choice since it's the most well-made class that can completely change depending on the items you use. Other classes are much more locked into certain playstyles and habits because of the restrictions of their kits and stats. You can go full glass cannon ETW, or you can ETF heavy melee and be basically unkillable while doing 200k quakes. You can also do a lot of things in between (black spellsteal is amazing) while abusing vanish because vanish is basically a timestop when you're alone. Pretty great.

Now about Archer vs Assassin dps argument:
Why is this even an argument, Archer has far more dps and it's not even close wtf (and if you factor in nighthawk... Illegal DPS)
Measuring in spin is widely favored over measuring in multihit for obvious reasons...

Citing cata as the example... Wow. Also that idea isn't insane, it's not even an opinion. It's just a fact proven by simple math.

Nighthawk 1 cost arrow storm on a good cluster spell steal build: 40k

Cata spin: definitely not 40k

Cata multi: vanish multi on a decent build is like 60k but... It takes way longer than storm and it's not even close dps wise (this is why spin is used as measure anyway also spin is just a better spell in general)
