SPOILER Player Character - Worst Ragni Guard Ever, Or Best Ragni Guard Ever?

So as I hope you're all aware, the player character is intended to be a ragni guard. And a question that's been bugging me for a while is, is he terrible at his job, or amazing at his job? Here are the two viewpoints I can imagine:

The player character is the worst ragni guard ever because as soon as you hit lvl 2, you leave ragni to become a full time adventurer. That's one incredibly irresponsible employee. You're supposed to be guarding the city from corrupted invasion and you're selfish enough to just leave to find your fame and fortune in faraway lands.

The player character is the best ragni guard ever because he's a hero! True, he may not actually guard ragni, but he's done hundreds of small good deeds and saved the world more times than a 2 year old can count! Who can possibly have the nerve to call this guy a bad guard? We'd all be dead if not for him!

Now that you've read both sides, I'd like you to answer the poll to help put my mind at ease. Is the player character the best or worst ragni guard ever?

 

He's the best Guard in terms of fighting and intelligence, but he's the worst Guard morality-wise. Take The Belly of the Beast, for instance. A dragon is killing everyone and the Guard doesn't even try to kill it -- even though that's pretty much his job. Yeah, he does stuff like destroying WynnExcavation, but the amount of bad the Guard does can hardly be excused by the amount of good.

 

I've robbed far too many banks to be a good guard.

The absolute worst guard, since every single guard in Ragni has more HP than you at the start, and you're nowhere near Ragni later in your adventure. Your character is a Worst Girl if we use the term girl to describe an individual guarding Ragni, absolutely no waifu qualities, not T H I C C and not loyal.

 

0/10 guard, doesn’t actually guard

 

this is completely normal for ragni guards to do. like half the quests start with the npc going "oh you're a guard", even in completely different provinces.

the bigger problem is the theft and such

 

All those dudes chilling in ragni with the name "Ragni Guard" disagree with you

 

the bandit leader from the rymek thief discovery, the starting npc for star thief, the almuj bank guard at the beginning of sandy scandal, and more all recognize you as a ragni guard or a member of the ragni army, so it cant be that uncommon

 

Oh my, he's an epic guard indeed.

 

Maybe it's a training thing or rite of passage; go to all these places, learn things, return to Ragni

but we literally never return to ragni so you know, awful guard

So once, for exactly five minutes

 

well, you steal a lot.... tbh i'd actually forgotten entirely that the player is a guard.

 

The playee shouldn't even be considered a guard.
The player does a lot of random stuff. You were paid for bringing intense mushrooms for a random elf and exploring a haunted mansion. You also do a lot of nonsense stuff, just like the ??? quest and cooking assistant. That's not a guard's job.

The player was convinced to kill and start wars by an edgy Sans near a portal. Doesn't sound very good to me. then again he'd just killed one of wynn's biggest threats and its overseer a few minutes ago
