Broken Quest

I am doing "The Hunger of Gerts Part 2" quest. There is a part where you need to speak to a "captured gert"
before you take the stairs and go up. The problem is, I timed out after I spoke to the gert. When I join back in, I am unable to speak to the gert or go to the stairs. I tried to go back to the original server and this still happens.
Is there a way to fix it?
