Uploading A Picture

Whenever I try to upload a pic on here it never works and just has a picture of a lake with and x in the bottom right, like this

I've given up and just started putting links to pictures... I still haven't figured it out either, so I do hope someone has a bit of secret rat knowledge and lays it on us

 

You need a direct link to your image, aka a link to a site which only contains the image. https://prnt.sc/rx2v0f for example contains ads, comment section, site logos and other website-y things alongside the image. Usually you can get the direct link by right clicking the image, and choosing "Copy image location/address" from the context menu. The text might vary depending on the browser and language you use, though. The problem with doing this on lightshot/printscrn is that instead of giving you an actual link, it seems to give you a 5 million characters long string that's probably going to crash your browser. I'd recommend using something like imgur instead, although essentially any other image hosting service should work as well. If you want to retain the ability to automatically upload your screenshots, there's nothing I'd recommend more than sharex.
