What Version Of Minecraft Is Best For Playing Wynncraft?

First of all, I am sorry, because this question is probably a duplicate, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

So, my question is pretty simple. What version of Minecraft should I use to get the best experience of playing Wynncraft? I tried the latest version, but there were some problems with some textures and it was lagging too much. I remember, that a long time ago, 1.8 was recommended, but I feel like it is already too outdated.

1.12.2 I believe is currently the recommended version, you can play on higher ones but I've heard there's some pretty major bugs
