Assassin Is Now The Worst Class. Change My Mind.

ok so i was going through all my classes trying to revamp my builds from 1 year ago and it was going really well until i got to my assassin and i noticed that assassin is literal ass. Specifically the spin attack which is arguably the most important spell. Even when using the vanish damage buff along with the blind from it. I was getting 6k spins from my thrunda ripsaw, and then i switched to my slider and was getting 2k and im really upset because assassin was one of my favorite classes and now for me its unplayable.

My goal for a good build is to have at least 8/4mr, 100hpr, 12k hp, and average damage (im more of a defensive player mostly). Every single build on my other classes was capable of reaching all these reqs with room to spare, but with assassin i don't think its currently possible without the use of mythics above a stack of le in cost. Anyway im guessing there's probably something im missing, so try to change my mind. Just remember that convincing me that assassin is playable/not bad is not the same as convincing me its NOT the worst class, because i seriously doubt that it isnt. also Salted please dont hate i still love you and appreciate the work that you and all the devs put into the server :)

guys do not underestimate the spin attack, it's really helpful, it stuns the enemy which allow you to do more
damage, i know that some of you already know all of this but i just learned that and i am lvl 80, all of this time
i underestimated spin attack.

rather than mr, these builds use ms which is arguably better for assassin because there's no risk of losing mana ticks in vanish
additionally, all have life steal to assist in sustainability

assassin has seriously powerful dps. it's probably your build that's the issue if you find yourself doing bad damage

 

Reason: Better DPS than b4 when not considering Spin-Spam.
A lot more dmg than warrior with just a bit less defense. Imo the most 'balanced' class in that regard.


Also, it's fun as hecc.

okay, assassin can:

• stunlock while doing high dps
• perform extremely damaging spell combos--from my experience 100k is attainable with a good enough build
• turn invisible with vanish to escape
• use vanish to get speed 5 and approach
• become extremely overpowered with heavy melee and 160k quakes
• tank effectively due to 100% base defense and still do acceptable damage because that's just what assassin does

to me, it looked like your main problem with assassin is that it just simply didnt do enough damage, which is just... plain incorrect

 

Warrior has nice upper cancels but only a small amount of weapons that deal good damage and its survavility isn't as good as it could be because it has no healing utility like mage and shaman.

Assassin has the second highest base defense after warrior but has a 80% damage bonus on vanish making heavy melee utterly insane (40k hits and 150k quakes). Can get absolutely insane dps by stacking multihit, spin, and smoke bomb (vanish-shift multi-smoke bomb-spin spam is an easy burst combo to just shred any boss' hp). Can then amplify this dps by 80% with vanish. Can use vanish for an almost no cost escape from fights to regen mana/hp ect. Has speed 5 to move in and out really quickly. Spin attacks can easily be made to cost 1 mana while maintaining 6.5-7k+ per spin without mythics, hell even my build a tank with 5.9k spins does perfectly fine murdering bosses. Also assassin has one of the best endgame weapon pools of any class with almost every legendary dagger being viable to some degree and a handful of rares being really good (two of which are easily as good as most legendaries)

Spin locking. Good damage in general. Ability to build bulk.

You're just completely absolutely totally ridiculously awkwardly... Wrong.

Assassin is a candidate for best class in the game, not the worst.

What it with noobs that aren't even new and their hot takes that are worse than actual newbies? At least this isn't as bad as the thread where someone begged people to host giveaways in their name...

 

If you're doing that little damage, as others have said, it's your build that's the problem. Good daggers can comfortably reach 7k spins pre-Vanish.

spin is a 360 spell, it hits (I think) with no cap on how many targets other than how many are within range, and also as you mentioned gives blindness which makes it easy to spam

With 7k spins (I don’t play assassin mainly so i don’t know it’s damage, but I just want to remind you wynndata shows single target damage, not total (so in a crowd, you can do hella dmg)

 

I agree, I also think Assassin is the worst class. Has no movement ability and now with Shaman coming along its damage isn't too good anymore
