Ok first off, if you've ever used the trade market to buy ANYTHING, you've come across this. You're just minding your own business, find a shop and post on it, asking how much the item is worth. Little do you know, the person selling it is boutta hit you with that mf "offer."

Ok so why is this so fucking annoying? because it gives 0 chance to the buyer to find any reference on what its worth or what the hell you want for the item, its annoying and it slows the process down. You know the price you have in mind is probably absurd so just say it so people can get on with their day.

The only time "offer first" is ever accepted is when there are new mythics or there's a really godly item on the market place.

Please snap out of this habit everyone, you want your item sold and people want to buy it so don't be like this, just because a bunch of price checkers do it tryna bust an extra stack off some poor soul then doesn't mean you should too (lookin at you ME). Plus, if you think about it, people like that control the value of the "market place" because they have a shit ton of "pricecheckers" which, when combined, can easily alter the price of a mythic when one of their members wants to "upgrade #1 (insert mythic here)."

Sorry for that tangent but you get my point, price checkers are unreliable especially when they group up so if you're selling an item, make up a price you like, go with it if it's reasonable and never say offer, maybe you'll stop getting lowballs.

Who uses the Trade Market anymore? Just stick to the in-game Marketplace and you should be good (unless your item has bad stats :P)

Well I think the people who say offer just want to get as much money out of their item as possible. The logic behind it is simple:

If you are selling an item and already have a price in mind for it, it is still better to get the buyer to offer first. Why? Because if you think 8LE is a fair price for it but they offer 9LE, you get more money. If they offer 7LE, it's a bit of a hassle but you still try to get as close to 8 as possible, the hassle is worth it if you can end up with more money.

The buyers standpoint is just as reasonable. Don't want to offer 9LE on an 8LE item so ideally for the buyer, the seller sets the price first. I always try my best to never offer a price or set a price. If I have to offer a price for an item I'd like to buy, I, like many other people would just lowball. If I had to set a price, I'd set a slightly higher price for the item but say something about the prices like "All prices are negotiable" or something along those lines so that people don't get completely turned away from the price.

I completely agree that price checkers are unreliable, but at the end of the day all that matters is buying something for the lowest price or selling something for the highest price, I'm sure having the process extended due to lowballing and hitting people with that "offer" is worth it if you save money off of it.

I'll shed some light on the truth of this "offer" technique, so when a buyer asks how much and the seller says "offer" usually it will benefit the seller more than often because if the buyer doesn't know the price of the item the buyer could potentially offer higher than what the item is potentially worth. In another word, is a loophole to scamming since if the buyer offers to pay for that much then is not against the rule. The second scenario would be the seller doesn't know the price of the item (this usually occurs to newer players), so saying "offer" is a more favorable response.
The third scenario here would be price manipulation(usually a godly sought after item or mythics), the seller can technically get "offers" from other people to dictate the price of the item (and they usually keep the high offers even if the offer may be bogus).

TL:DR when the buyer says "offer" you are most likely scammed or manipulated

More manipulation, less scamming because in the end by saying that, you drive most people away from buying your item. I know exactly why some people do it but then you find people who have nothing to do with reselling doing it. It's like a trend, everyone is doing it but most people hitting you up with an "offer" don't understand that it's annoying and counterproductive to selling your item. wanted to shed light on that.

I usually just say "offer" because I'm unsure what a fair price would be and don't want to spam the price check thread.
