Ok, I tried numerous builds with no avail as a mage.

How the hell do I beat the eye?

Taking in teammates wouldn’t count as an answer to me.

kill the wretches and dodge magma cube laser

 

Play defensive, avoid every single of its spell (It's alot easier to solo as archer because you can just keep distance and not have to dodge the spells), kill the minions and wretches, NEVER tank the magma laser, some people think it's okay to tank them lol

 

just dodge absolutely everything that poses a threat to you. if you can handle it, I recommend keeping your particles at max settings. other than that, just stay aware of your surroundings and just don't stand in the path of any particles and you'll be fine
