In the furthest north lies the highest pinnacle, and beneath it, the deepest depths. Throughout history, this mountain of madness has been the center of many a conspiracy theory. Not without good reason; Mt. Yavhlix's front face bears an enormous, mysterious door. The gate has never been opened... if we are to believe ancient texts from the fallen Order of Insohm.

Locals have stories passed down through countless generations about the snow-capped peak. To them, Yavhlix is a place of looming dread, an unending sense of danger, and the feeling that your very soul is leaving your body - a feeling of emptiness. Their most popular folktale is about a group of adventurers who found the ruin after an avalanche revealed the monumental gateway. They ventured into the mountain and found only empty halls, bottomless chasms, and pure silence.

What they found at the end of it all was inconceivable. Something profound and dangerous; something that granted the answer to every mystery the realm had to offer. This did not go without punishment. They were attacked by an unknown entity that made them disappear from reality. The folktales say that only one member of the nine that ventured survived, and she told of a bundle of red and black tentacles bound together by a bloody ribcage in the shape of a worm. At its head was a hole; an empty void. Her companions were not eaten by the beast, no, something far worse and more terrifying. If the beast saw you, perfectly circular holes would appear all around your body, growing larger and larger and more numerous until you simply ceased to exist. You became Nothing.

The eldritch monstrosity could not be killed. Any attempt to damage it would have one's weapons disappear. It could swallow itself whole and vanish, reappearing elsewhere. It could reform its tentacles and bones into any form it wanted.

The folktale ends with the one survivor found missing from her home a few days later, with a perfectly circular, endless hole in her room.

Hi, this build is apart of a massive 12k x 12k WorldPainter project. It includes 300+ custom structures, a fast travel system, BotW-esque towers, 30+ unique biomes, 13 unique built by hand towns, custom advancements, custom trades, a quest to discover the mystery beneath Yavhlix, and one massive, custom dungeon. All in survival, no mods.

The world itself is apart of a multiyear ongoing worldbuilding project that's meant to be the setting of a video game... some day in the future. There's probably a hundred plus pages of written lore at this point.

I will be releasing more images and short stories of the map soon. Let me know what you thought of this one.

Edit: I would insert an image or attach a file but it's not working for some reason.
