SPOILER H I C Finished In 586 Hours (w/ Rtd Content And Epic Story)

Welp, I finally did it. Took me a few months and the Silent Expanse coming out when I was within 10 quests of completion, but here we are. Skip down a couple posts for the memes and brief overview, but the spoiler below this text contains a bunch of random and significant screenshots and points that I felt like sharing.

July 14, 2019. Just under five months ago. My previous HIC had died due to the sprint meter running out in a dungeon, and this was nothing more than an attempt to farm my professions back up to my old HIC as quickly as possible.


July 19, 2019. Just five days later, I had passed my old HIC and obtained le epic weed number. Now that I was gonna be stuck with a Warrior for the rest of the challenge, I decided to do the most logical thing, which was to farm and level all three consumable professions. I used Cooking ONE TIME during the entire 586 hours that I played this character. no regrets lol


August 15, 2019. My progress had slowed down somewhat. I'm 99% sure that this screenshot was just a way to mark the coordinates of the Resource Tunnels, but it's still cool to look back at.


September 12, 2019. I was flexing on Death with my HIC just for fun, and I was disappointed that there was no dialogue if the player hadn't died. At this point I was rocking a 60 str 100 def build with absolutely no Health Regen buffs or Intelligence. It's probably worth it to note that I hadn't played the game for a year or so before starting my HIC and I had no idea how good spell warrior was compared to... that.

Death. September 16, 2019.

At level 92 I was doing my thing in Rodoroc, about to start the D&D questline. I was traveling there on a horse, at full health and with about 135 defense. No mobs were around, and I had a sudden, massive lag spike.

I quickly realized what was happening and logged out. However, it was too late...

Somehow my horse had managed to clip through a block and fall through the world and carry me into the void, because I was at one of the lowest points in Molten Heights at around y=11 or so. I had also somehow instantly died while I was lagging.

I did what anyone would do and submitted a bug report, which wasn't going anywhere for a week and a half or so when an admin replied and said he'd look into if this case fell under the "No Refund" policy. Another week or so later, I received my response when they messaged me in-game and said to logout for a few minutes and check forums.

Surprisingly, my request was granted to have the Hardcore tag reinstated, one time. (I didn't get my items back though obviously lol rip entire inv)
I don't consider it as dying, and it didn't blemish my experience of playing HIC to technically have died to a glitch and lag, so I carried on. Think whatever you want about it.


On November 18 I reached the Combat goal of the original HIC challenge at level 103, while grinding out quests since I had about ninety left or something. I was ecstatic, but I was (and still am) also quite bad at the game, and had no idea how I was going to complete Legendary Island.

If I had just been leveling my combat stat, this would be really quite slow and not as much of an achievement. But most of my playtime went into grinding professions as much as I could fit into my schedule, and that's where the key to beating LI came in. Crafted consumables out the ass.

If you'll allow me to flex my stats when I finished grinding out the levels needed to craft these consumables, here they are:


Currently, any one crafted consumable type is able to have multiple of itself running at once.
What do I mean by that? Well, if you have a scroll with 50% Water Damage, and a scroll with 50% Melee Damage, you could use both at the same time. When you ran out of effects to slap on scrolls, you could use potions. And then maybe a food.

Yeah. That's the one instance that I actually used food. (Outside of shitty 20% XP Bonus food made with 6 Bandit Rations for CIB running)

After grinding 108 T3 materials specifically for the consumables and my build (which I'll show later), I was ready to take on Legendary Island.

And I did. It was decently hard, but the adrenaline rush was amazing. I didn't really come close to death during any of the bosses because of my ridiculous full crafted build + 7 quite good crafted consumables running at the same time for most of the run.

Wait, what's that? You're expecting a recording?
Or screenshots of my LI run to prove that I didn't get carried through the entire thing?

Well you see, the problem is that I use a MacBook. I literally cannot record any particle heavy or entity intensive gameplay at all without my FPS dropping to 10, I don't have recording software, and overall it really just isn't worth taking the risk. Nobody can carry me through LI, however, due to the Ironman's limitation of having to deal 100% damage to the boss (or someone else hits it and the mob regenerates to full HP and then you both get drops!) for it to drop an item.

Turns out that there's actually a 13 image limit, so that's nice I guess.
I kind of over prepared for Legendary Island, not gonna lie. The last two things left for me to complete were four easy dungeons, and about 90 quests. This was around the start of December.

I picked the smart option and decided "You know what? let's level all my professions to 100 while the hero beta is active and silent expanse could come out at any time forcing me to complete all the content in RtD that I haven't played"

Not gonna lie, though, leveling a bunch of professions on Ironman is surprisingly fun, especially when there's someone throwing a long profession party. It's even better with the ingredient pouch now.

Sadly I can't fit all the individual levels when I hit level 100 in this post, so here's a screenshot of my character now.

Anyways, I digress. After I did a whole shit ton of professions I felt like the update would come soon, so I started grinding quests as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, I'm really bad at quests. It's part of the reason why I started playing HIC- A lot of grinding which can't be optimized goes into Ironman professions, and part of the draw for me is that everyone playing Ironman would be on a much more even playing field.

Unfortunately... the update was too soon. I had ten quests left to complete, the hardest of them being Reincarnation, when the server went down. After it went back up roughly an hour later, my wifi had gone down somehow, it was 12:30 AM, and the update was released.

oh boy SECOND POST

Spoiler: Linny's Adventures Cont.

After Silent Expanse released, I spent the first day and a half completing as many of the new profession mini quests as I could before I lost motivation.

I really love almost everything about the new update, including the miniquests, but it gets a... little tiring to do about 50 of them per day for two days.
Here's a screenshot about in the middle of it, I think:


The Dern quests were some of the most fun I've had in my entire time playing Wynncraft. Especially on a Hardcore character. I was shaking the entire time while doing some of the content, and I fucking loved it.

The only challenges that could potentially kill me extremely quickly in the update, however, were a) lag and fall damage, b) the Eldritch Outlook Dungeon, and c) A Hunter's Calling. All of which almost succeeded lmfao

For some reason, some of the quests in Dern *ahem* don't have fall damage turned off for parts of the quest.
So I took massive amounts of fall damage at several places, most of which being in the quest where you find out about your soul. There's a stage when it launches you upwards to go to the next part and I probably took 3/4 of my health in damage.

At this point, I did the Eldritch Outlook dungeon. And oh boy was it a complete mess.
I don't have any screenshots of it because I was panicking really hard the entire time, but the party that I was in consisted of me and a guild mate, and then two other people who joined last minute. Since this was my only real chance to do the dungeon because I wanted to get the content out of the way, I decided to go along with it.

The Wretches got me down to about 1.9k HP, I got hit by one of the laser things, and my teammates decided to attack the Eye while they were inside it which damaged the entire party massively. Somehow nobody died, but I did chug 12 pots during the fight lul

As far as A Hunter's Calling goes, it was pretty uneventful. I don't have any screenshots of it either. I got carried through the final boss fight but god damn the rest of the quest was good.
I'll probably go back and solo the RtD content at some point, but honestly I CBA to anytime in the near future with school and the other things I plan doing on Wynn.


Also I got level 105 so that's cool I guess?
