SPOILER Something Very, Very Interesting In Grookwarts Related To Dern...

I was looking around in Grookwarts, the not-so-subtle Wynncraft parody of Hogwarts, and like its Harry Potter counterpart, Grookwarts hides lots of secrets in its hallways...

In the room with the staircases, there's a padlocked door opposite the main entrance. I somehow broke the padlock by rapidly teleporting at the door while jumping and the door opened. (I'm using imgur links because every time I try to use the image function in posts it doesn't work.)

Inside I found an empty hallway leading to a room with broken cages and what appears to be an operating table of sorts. There were notes there, too...

I turned around and saw some kind of Dernic monster behind me. Being a complete coward, I stayed far away, killed it with my meteor spell, and got the hell out of there.

Before you ask, I didn't take any pictures of the monster because I was a wimp and terrified, and I'm too much of a coward to go back and re-trigger whatever spawned it and take photos. (It was probably spawned when I looked at the notes.)

TL;DR: at some point, the Order of the Grook experimented on creatures from the Silent Expanse in Experiment Eldritch, which failed horribly and had to be contained (hence the padlocked door).

This is kind of a work-in-progress thread, if anyone has anything else related they'd like to share please comment below.

EDIT: Comment section told me the monster is called a "Weakened Dern Monster." Apparently the door opens when you complete a secret parkour course in the dining hall.

 

I found this during the beta but there wasn’t any monster so it’s cool that it is there.

The reason they likely couldn’t kill it is because of the Dark element described in journey beyond.

 

Did you perhaps interact with anything in the dining hall before that?

 

They should’ve taken Larry instead. THEN they’d realize that they fucked up

 

Hmm, I think a monster being trapped in a area could be a reference to how Fluffy in Harry Potter is also hidden in a secret room

 

Not sure. There was a bookcase-related puzzle in the dining hall that made you do parkour across a bunch of candles and, according to the text, unlocks some kind of door, but that wasn't how I got in, I just teleported at the door really fast.

 

Yep, that’s what opened the door. Just wanted to make sure it didn’t open randomly.

 

Having these kinds of secrets really fills up the world of wynncraft and makes it whole. More things like this would be very welcome in my opinion

I got a picture of the thing.

from the looks of it, it might be a Kantyr or something.

I also took a few other looks around the lab and they had both purple stuff and some green sludge in some vats.

Guessing the green stuff was taken from the Toxic Wastes.

 

In the quest Misadventure on the Sea, you can talk to the bartender multiple times before going on the pirate's ship which I found pretty neat.

 

Poor kantyrs... nobody is around to take care of them...

 

The Weakened Dern Creature strongly resembles the spiders from AJF and Olmic Rune.
