What's Next?

This is hopefully going to be another little community discussion about what happens after Furma/Dern.
1.19 is the Silent Expanse, and after it, we will have both Furma and Dern (At some point) but what lays in wait after that?

 

I would like nether back even it’s not for pvp cause I kinda misses going through the portal

 

light realm rework doesn't seem too bad

 

Personally think having quest and stuff in the nether would be cool, but I would still like pvp to be on.

 

I'm expecting a guild rework eventually, due to The Factions... being a thing.

I said after Fruma, we understand that it and Dern will be next, its a discussion on whats after those two.

 

fruma not coming ~2 years I'd bet, next 2 major updates id think would be a gameplay change and guilds rework

 

Is the update after 1.19 confirmed to be Fruma/Dern? You seem pretty confident that it's the next update.

Personally I hope that the update after 1.19 will be revamping Gavel. Gavel hasn't seemed to have aged very well, and there is still a lack of actual Gavel dungeons, as well as some unexplained areas (the two towers). Revamping Gavel would also clean up a lot of the lore, and help set everything straight before they throw more lore into the mix. And if not Gavel, then I hope it's the guild update.

This isn't really meant to be about what the next update will be, but rather where do they go after they finish off all the area expansions.
Plus I'm not sure I ever implied Fruma was even the next expansion, I said Fruma/Dern, and even then I do believe you're just misunderstanding what exactly I'm saying.

So something about the guild update.
It would be almost solely the coder's job.
While Cruckle is coding it, and Salted is designing it, whats the rest of the team doing?
(Not that I doubt it's going to happen, but I'm not sure it will release by itself. Personally expect more than just it to come out when it does.)

Here's why I think it's a gavel rework:

1. no gavel dungeons.
2. no gavel discoveries.
3. ngl the gavel lore is really weird.
4. some gavel quests need revamping.
5. egg

 

What's next? Probably another 8 months of waiting WHEN the content is actually out

Partially my misunderstanding, partially you not being clear beforehand. The way you worded it made me think that you assumed the update after 1.19 was for sure going to be Fruma and/or Dern, and not anything else.

That being said, I think that a lot of this stuff is going to come before Fruma and Dern, and frankly, I think that they would wait to drop Fruma and Dern for when they have cleaned up and added everything they want to add to all of the pre-existing content. Why would they do any sort of revamps AFTER Fruma and Dern? Revamping all the current systems to have more depth and function better sets up Fruma and Dern to make amazing use of those systems.

Same reason they lunched The silent expense.
Thing is, while the developers, salted, and maybe the writers are busy, a lot of this leaves the build team open.
That's why the last couple of updates have involved a couple of build reworks, a few quest revamps, and a lot of new game mechinics.

The mechinics being key here, obvouisly 1.18 added grinding, sorry I mean professions. 1.19 adds a new class, a new boss system, and reworks to existing classes. This is keeping in mind, the build team worked on RtD through both.

I'm expecting something similar, maybe 1.20 offering a big mechanical rework like a guild update, or a combat update, with a few reworked quest and builds. 1.21 then will probably be Dern or Fruma.

Anyways, that's my predictions on whats going to get done when, but that isn't what this thread is really about.

What in attempting to ask, is what else they will add. I was trying to say, we know for a fact Fruma and dern are happening, but all other future projects are unclear.

I'm not sure if it is.
Tbh I always thought after gavel should be 2.0 lol. Pre gavel and after gavel are so different that we dived them into eras unlike any other update ever.

But I do doubt 2.0 will come out, that would probably require them making the game in a whole new engine, or scraping every thing and remaking it but more focused.
