Ragni Easter Egg

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this has been posted about before but I found the sweetest little Easter egg in Ragni. I was just bored and wandering around, admiring the build teams work and I stumbled across this;


[Angel statue with signs that say;
"In memorial to the soldiers that did not die by the enemy's blade"
"But fell to the enemy that lurks within us all. Rest In Peace."]

And when you interact with the NPC (Otium) he says this;

[Dialogue]
[1/4] Sometimes, fighting the corruption takes its toll on people.
[2/4] A dear friend of mine and the province was lost because he couldn't see a way out.
[3/4] This memorial was erected for all those who suffer similarly.
[4/4] If you are ever confronted by the demons within, please seek help.

I just thought it was so lovely, and that I should share it so more people could see if they haven't already.

I've made a habit to visit it whenever I'm in Ragni.

If I remember right, it's sort of a memorial to a member of the CT that committed suicide.

 

That's very sweet but also very sad

 

There is also a grave high up in a mountain between the mesa and the normal plains. I forgot what it says, but it also seems to be some sort of memorial.

That sounds seems to mean if you are ever confronted by suicidal thoughts "demons" go seek help from someone who can help you with it
Sounds like someone who worked on wynn or someone's close friend killed them selves.

I realised that it was about suicide when I found it, that's why I shared it to the forum because I think it's important for people to see it :)

It is about suicied.
And yeah, its in memory to a ct member.
(Ps, no idea if it actually is in memory of a ct team member, just going off what I've been told.
No offical word on what its for that I know of.)

I’m sorry if I’m imposing on anything here but I personally feel like saying “F” to something of this nature is honestly just offensive. Yes you are paying your respects but with how saying the letter “F” by itself to exclaim bad things over the internet it just doesn’t feel right.

I myself have never had anyone close to me have any problems with depression or suicide but I have known people who have known people who did and it’s terrible.

I just don’t think it’s the right place to say things like that.

I feel the same way too, you’re not alone. I know people here have good intentions but replying a letter that’s associated with a meme doesn’t feel right.

It's really beautiful how there's these subtle references and easter eggs to the tragedies of real life hidden within Wynn, and within other games. They both honor and serve as some of Wynn's most powerful storytelling, drawing parallels between the world within the game and ours. Beside the occasionally bland NPCs and somewhat nonsensical quests there's these bittersweet anecdotes that show that everyone; whether that be npc, CT or player struggles with something.

I've passsed by this monument before and never really understood the full meaning of it; thanks everyone for sharing this with me.
