It’s also important to note that from melee—>brawl, 3/5 characters cut had replacements that were either more unique or more competitively viable, or both, and the other 2 were clones that no one cared about. Most, if not all characters cut from melee—>smash 4 had a legitimate excuse to be excluded as well. Here, there’s absolutely no excuse to cut ~half of the pokemon, which I’m sure is about how big the Galar dex will be.

To be fair, we haven’t seen all of the move animations yet, and I do believe people are being petty about the double kick animation-you know, the move that you replace asap. Until we see more of the game, I don’t think we can say for sure whether the “high quality animations” are for real or not.


I do have my own opinion on the overall graphical quality of the game, but I won’t share it until we see more ingame footage, so far we’ve only really seen one portion of the “wild areas”.

This is both shocking and disgusting at the same time. Pokemon is what made Game Freak, and now they don’t care about it anymore? I’m sure if Satoru Iwata, you know, the guy that helped them make Gold and Silver and the former president of Nintendo, was still around, he would be disappointed.

Being honest, they should have started trying new IPs a while ago, Pokémon is cool and all but it is literally the only thing GameFreak has (that I know of)
Though, perhaps they shouldn't have started Sword and Shield's development this early, the fact that they have released a game every year since S&M is clearly hurting the games
But for real, aside from that absolutely dumb decision, I don't mind if they are trying new IPs
TOWN better end up being good unlike Sword and Shield if they are focusing on it tho, I'm not taking shitty Pokemon games if the game that took priority isn't good either

 

This is less about them not being "allowed" to branch out (they already do develop other games) but that their most popular series that they're rushing out yearly releases for isn't even considered their priority anymore. If they're just done with Pokemon then they should hand the franchise over to another developer at this point.

Guess I just never got into it.

Also I never understood why its always multiple games.
Like, why not just one? Whats the difference between the two versions?

It sort of varied widely; the for gens one and two there was no difference besides pokemon,
for gen 3 there was a different villain group and story, though both stories were overall pretty similar,
for gen 4 there was a difference in pokemon,
for gen 5 there were exclusive cities and areas that varied widely between versions,
and gen 6 and 7 were both just different pokemon.
gen 8 has version exclusive gym leaders and pokemon

Not quite. Spike Chunsoft is still up and making money, but there's no news about a new Mystery Dungeon game, even with all the leaks. Super Pokemon Mystery Dungeon also seems like the last game in the series, with all three previous "worlds" included in its island system.

No, you don't. Not anymore, at least. Sw/Sh is confirmed now to cram up and completely brick your Switch and all its data with it. Even if it doesn't, the best that'll happen if you even load up the game is that the lifespan of your Switch will be cut short.
