SPOILER Regarding Bob, Slykaar And Togak: A Timeline Error

I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place for this, but when I was trying to compile a timeline of events in Wynncraft, I ran into a continuity problem. Alright, so the Discovery Lore of Ragni is as follows:

"One of two great fortresses in Wynn. Ragni has survived over 1000 years of war - sometimes barely. It is the hometown of the 146 year old hero Bob, who hasn't been seen in 16 years."

Much later on, we get this line of dialogue in the Corrupted Betrayal quest:

"They were willing to give me a few peasants in 831, when the hordes crossed the bridge. The king was happy to throw away lives to save his. But then the hero of Wynn waltzed in a few years later." -Slykaar

It's been at least 1000 years since the portal was first discovered, yes? We can gather that bit from Aldorei's Secret II.

"Once we discovered the bloodied history of your race, we learned about your portal. The portal, which opened 1000 years ago, about the same time Gavel began to decay." - Togak

Notice how Togak doesn't approximate by saying almost. From that, we can gather that it's been at least 1000 years, perhaps more. If the current year is 1000 AP, then Bob was born on 854 AP. However, remember that earlier bit from Slykaar? "The hero of Wynn waltzed in a few years later." The Hero he's referring to is clearly Bob, as evidenced by the following line spoken in the Undergrowth Ruins dungeon:

"Then the corruption will take over the city. Then who will they call? Bob has been missing for years. Fools!"

Something doesn't add up here. A few years isn't that long a time frame, at least not by human standards. 831 AP is over twenty years before Bob was even born, that doesn't qualify as a few years by any stretch of the imagination.

One of these three data points are inaccurate.

• It isn't 1000 AP.
• Slykaar's memory is bad.
• The timeline of events regarding Bob is in error.

#1's inaccuracy at first seems plausible, seeing as the elves weren't there when the portal first opened. However, we have more information to back this bit up. According to some more Discovery Lore, Bob's Tomb was discovered in 985 AP, and Bob himself disappeared the year prior. He's been missing for 16 years, remember, which would make the current date exactly 1000 AP.

There's no reason to believe #2 is wrong. Though no other NPC's mention it outright, it's unlikely the people of Troms would forget a time when the only thing between them and total annihilation was a power-hungry madman that demanded human sacrifices, nor would they forget the man who single-handedly drove back the undead hordes.

I can only conclude then that the Wynn timeline is flawed. To make this timeline work, you'd need to change something: Regress the current date, make Bob inhumanly old, or move Slykaar's reign of terror forward in time.

 

Yeah, this is not uncommon. iirc there's a discrepancy with the Doguns or something during Finding the Light as well.

 

We should have a lore/story update.

Seems kinda lame, but I think it would be really cool if done well.

Probably just a grammatical error. Simple fix

 

I mean, it’s also possible that Slykaar is downplaying how long his reign lasted before Bob appeared, when in reality his sacrifices went on for decades. He could be using the term “a few years later” to garner some form of sympathy by exaggerating how quickly Bob overthrew him.
