Is "the Silent Expanse" A Province? (also Is Dern A Province Or A Realm) [answered]

It's a little bit confusing since I always thought that the province name was Dern not "The Silent Expanse".

It's also small to be a province.
Another thing is that in the reveal of 1.19 update, they said "Explore the desolated area that once belonged to the Wynn province" which means that it was part of the Wynn province not a province by itself.
I'm also confused if Dern supposed to be a province or a realm since the reveal says it's a realm "Now completely controlled by the realm of Dern".

 

Nah 99% sure that the province is named Dern and the update’s name is the silent expanse. Most of the updates get names: economy update, dungeons and discoveries update, corkus update, mob update, etc....

 

I'm pretty sure the name is The Silent Expanse.

From what I understand, it seems The Silent Expanse was a part of Wynn province but Dern corrupted it and took control of the region.

 

I guess it's technically still part of Wynn

Does it matter what you call it? There's no consistent reason to call Wynn or Gavel a province, after all. Of course, it doesn't look like the Silent Expanse has much in the way of civilization - likely just a few pockets here and there.

 

It does matter in many cases, for example when adding the new region we don’t want to put false info to it and it’s also kinda important for the lore.
Regardless, it won’t hurt to get a 100% clarification on it.

So, what I’m confused of is that why everyone saying that it’s Dern and that it’s a province, since it seems that Dern isn’t even a province because they call it The Realm of Dern.

What I want to know is what province/realm it belongs to, it might not even belong to anything.

Also, I’m not sure if Dern is even a province now because it’s called The Realm of Dern now.

 

Why do you want to know that. Its pretty much a warzone or a wasteland being taken over by dern

From what i've understood:
Dern is a realm, spooky and dead/corrupted
The new area was like any other area in Wynn province, but got corrupted/controlled by Dern.
So the new region is in Wynn province, but controlled by the realm of Dern. It's the road to Dern.
And I don't think it's actually called "Silent Expanse", pretty sure it's just the name of the update but it got used in a weird way so it seems that the area is called that.

 

Not sure about that part, because you can see in the blog post that it says “New region: The Silent Expanse”.
But yeah, it’s pretty weird. So I assume the name of the region is Road to Dern.

So is Dern contiguous with the rest of the Wynn world, or is it in another dimension like the Light Realm?

 

Oh...

This makes the whole "Gavel is 1/3 larger than wynn" statement make more sense. because originally it was even larger because the silent expanse hadn't existed.

i was puzzling over that for a long while when gavel's changelog first came out.
