I remember making a thread asking about the difficulty of leveling up (that was before the economy update).
    The result kinda surprised me.

    The overall result:
The Total Votes Without "Leveling up is too easy".
Leveling is Easy: 318 Votes 49.8%.
Leveling is Normal: 190 Votes 29.7%.
Leveling is Hard: 131 Votes 20.5%.
There is 266 players vote, some of them vote just for "Leveling up is too easy".

I know the video in question, however I'm not sure its the answer. Something of that nature normally refers to sand box games, were you have a lot of creative liscien, and you can do more then what's needed.

    Few issues
    - This is a largely different experience then Minecraft, a lot of the players who are looking for difficulty aren't internally motivated.

    - Optional difficulttly doesn't make people work together, as they tend to be personal challenges. Its an mmo, kind of important.

Personally I do like where you're going. However I don't think it should be difficulty options, as much as things like dungeons, boss alters, battle towers and big boy bosses should be challenging enough to cause actual player interaction. By player interaction, I mean preferably you get a group of 3 to 5 people who play different roles (tank, support, dps).

To an extent I would call wynncraft a sandbox game. The game is designed in a way that you can do almost whatever you'd like to do with your items, with how you play or how you progress. Wynncraft's progression system doesn't force or require you to do any one specific thing to be successful or to level up. Yeah, you're right about it being more applicable to sandbox games, but when talking about challenge in a game made for a casual audience, you're going to rely on intrinsic motivation of the players to seek out challenge themselves.

I'm not so sure on that. The players who do look for challenge and seek it out themself are definitely internally motivated, at least when it comes to wynncraft. All of its semi-challenging content are all fairly optional with very few exceptions but also limited/unecessary rewards attached to them (like boss altars). The players who aren't intrinsically motivated would be the ones to play the game for its content (quests, exploration, basic things such as that) and not much else.

I don't believe I said optional difficulties, though that's on me for not saying otherwise. Difficulty settings are alright for bigger games with a larger playerbase. The last thing wynncraft wants to do is split its playerbase between multiple difficulty settings as it would reduce/remove the natural interaction you might have with other players and for an MMO, that seems quite terrible. I was thinking more along the lines of integrated more challenging content, sort of like legendary island but not limited to the endgame. It doesn't have to be a boss gauntlet style thing, there's tons of options to be done. It's just one thing that works well, though almost only at endgame. Remastering boss fights found throughout the game for a tougher challenge and reward is exactly what fits the endgame, and it does its job well in that regard.

I feel like what you're looking for is more on the level of raids, but yeah I agree. It's one of the things I enjoy about Destiny. Its raids and dungeons are some of the most well made content in the game. Interesting unique mechanics are much better as difficult content over statboosted bullet sponges who just have invincibility phases and one shot mechanics (cough).

I'm gonna say normal. The leveling process is fairly simple and you can do most of the quests by yourself. However, the endgame content, specifically LI and Qira, are definitely rated hard.

So it averages out to "normal" for me overall, although it's probably because I don't have a super good build that is optimal for my playstyle.

I definitely wish Wynncraft overall was harder and encouraged more grouping up and team strategy. And if there was just less RNG overall, as it adds a level of unnecessary artificial difficulty. (Item drops, IDs, Boss spellcasts) Not to a great extent however.

Is it worthy of a true MMO? Imo it's about where an average MMO is right now. Nothing outstanding about it besides the fact it's made in Minecraft. However, that is to not say that it can be improved to be a unique MMO, which I have high hopes and optimism about :)

the problem with this game is that instead of having a high skill-ceiling in order to be hard it just has artifical game lengtheners which cause the illusion of it being hard when in reality it's just time consuming.

However, everything becomes hard if you put on some hardcore challenges.

    Lag is pretty difficult though.

Wow I was tagged, I feel relevant!

Here is the video for those who are interested, its an interesting video and talked about the concepts of extrinsically and intrinsically motivation in minecraft and how the two creates proper game balance for games. While the video itself is about minecraft I think there are a lot of concepts applies to wynncraft or just general gaming as well, which is outlined in the first 3 minute of video (not counting the first 30 seconds of sponsorship) if you don't want to sit through the entire thing. Its also a briliant video with a lot of subtle humor so its an entertaining and educational experience nonetheless.

I have no friends to play with or I can't get a hold of anyone to help me for team quests so honestly I wish the made team quests mor of an option and added more solo quests to make up the xp for ??? and the bob quests. I'm actually glad Wynncraft is as solo as it is rn

I'm glad weapon reqs aren't going up like in revamp. With the new reqs dual-wielding is broadly viable, so you can actually have multiple weapons.

I don't think anyone actually wants quest that requires more than one person.
For the most part, people here want optional challenges hard enough to force multiple people (Not to say quest, more like dungeons, raids, and boss alters)

I find it easy for archer, middle-ish for assassin and mage, and hard for warrior (for boss fights that is). I think the game as a whole like leveling from 1-100 is okay as it is, nice for all classes except the typical complaints such as mage & archer (unless you have iron string or crackshot) having bad dps from lvl1-20.

Bonus thingy: I think one of the hardest things about Wynncraft is staying entertained at the end game (what a twist but kinda true), which is one of the reasons I started on the whole walkspeed thing, which has entertained me nicely for quite a while now. Guilds are okay-ish too along with the occasional helping a random group with the ??? quest, so if you can keep yourself entertained at Wynncraft endgame for the long run then you can handle any challenge that Wynn has to offer.
