Okay, so I just read this theory by UteGamer20 https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/bob-is-from-dern-theory.252199/
So I decided to share my theory which has actually been with me for quite a bit.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, so of all things we know about Bob is that has has gray skin, while his mother is never mentioned to have such a trait, so does that mean that Bob is possibly a inter-species? Maybe, but who or what would his father be? While most think it might be something from Dern, couldn't he possibly be part-Olm?

In case you've never heard of an Olm, the word "Olm" is mentioned in a discovery at
Time Valley where a secret underground room is discovered when using a gem found in a temple to open it. What you find inside?
A room overgrown with leaves and a skeleton, but then time reverses, the leaves disappear, and the skeleton grows back its features once again, wearing black and having a shade of gray skin and ghostly eyes.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The figure then speaks, most likely to itself, saying words in the language know as Wynnic, which can be translated using the Wynnic Transcriber which you receive from the master discovery.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    [IMG]
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When translated, the words spell out, "The olm cannot survive here, it is coming for us." The being's life essence then disappears in a small flake of purple particles, perhaps indicating some sort of magical disease of sorts. Now the "it" he mentioned might be the Eye, which leads me to believe the Olm are actually immigrants originating from
Dern, very few of those who escaped the Eye's terror, that terror being the mutated Ancients in WynnExcavation Site D, but thing is that the Olm here didn't transform, he just died in a instant, although in the quest Deja Vu, a cosmic event is mentioned, the origin of the event is unknown.

So who could the mysterious father of Bob be? Well, there's only one "human" I can think of, Martyn, an NPC in the quest Deja Vu, he somehow understands how Time Valley works, and, oddly enough, Asher even says "How did you get those powers? Are you even human?" while Martyn responds with a more comedic response of "Oh you know, I've read a book or two in my time" ,meaning that he knows some time magic as he later disappears from the timeline. Asher also says "I think he might have known Bob. I saw some letters in his house" ,now these letter may also suggest he may be Nilrem, but thing is, the letters were found by the player in guarded areas, suggesting Nilrem never actually found them, so the letters in his house I'm not sure of, but that's it for now, share your own theories if you wish.

It's pretty clear you didn't read all the paragraphs as I said that I think the Olm are FROM Dern, and that they're the same, non-corrupted version of the Ancients. Also just because someone kills something from Dern doesn't necessarily mean that they're Dernic, that's like killing a Corruption creature that they're corrupted.

Well I guess it’s a wait until Dern comes out because if we see a town with entities that have grey skin...

Dern probably doesn't have anything of "civilization" anymore. All of the pictures we've seen show just ruins. There was civilization beforehand, but now..

I get that, but for gameplay elements, as in will the item identifier or item buyer have grey skins?
It might not make sense lore wise for the merchants to be there but you know.

Wow I’m just reading back through that and it looked like an attack welp

You don't know your lore do you? Well in the hidden notes it's revealed the "body" in Bob's Tomb isn't his genuine body, he died while going through the portal on Gateway Island, and what does his burial have to do with his origins?

But I was talking about his origin, nothing about his death, I just don't tend to understand sarcasm xD

I was thinking something like that would be really cool to see. Like a collection of humans and villagers who tried to find RtD but were turned into dernic-esque beings. Or my other theory: the descendants of the ancient kingdom where modern day Almuj stands who have been mutated over the years by the darkness into beings of darkness.

Though I doubt we'll be seeing any conscious civilisations in RtD given the photos and teaser's we've seen.

A form of corrupted people has already been seen in a Thousand Meters Under, where villagers who fell from the sky islands and landed on the void islands seemingly became void-like, but they have memory of what happened and are still sane and civilized.

The people in the ancient kingdom were killed by The Emperor’s sandstorm. It was so brutal that it buried nearly everyone underneath the sand. Leaving zero trace of the kingdom.

Well, we now know that Olm is not from dern... But still a good theory.

Yes, but the theory is most likely correct. In one of the secret discoveries we see two gray guys talking before The Olmic City was ruined. It was just a correction of some sort pointing out that it was Road to Dern and not Dern itself. ^^ Good theory tho.
