Petition: Rename Desperado Back Into Requiem Or Make Another Item Named “requiem”

Rename desperado back into requiem or just make another item called requiem.

I liked the name requiem (because fucking jojo haha) but it seems that item team doesn’t like the golden experience. If you were gonna make another requiem, maybe change it into the thunder wand skin??? Please I just want requiem back oh god I want my fucking jojo references.

edit: real reason, I just like the name requiem way more than desperado.

update: in ct stream selvut stated that one im member (think it was major?) wanted an item called desperado so they renamed requiem. They also answered why they didn’t just make a new item called desperado, because the item pool was too large, therefore they apparently couldn’t add any more items.

You missed part of the explanation. Basically, in order to make sure each build had enough to support it, some builds which had too much focus needed to be shifted. There were already enough water wands, and Requiem was the one most in-line in terms of level and placement with what we needed for a thunder/fire wand. Major wanting to name it Desperado just was a happy accident, basically; he wanted to name an item that and couldn't, so when the opportunity came, he jumped on it.

We explained this in the stream too; drop pools are already pretty oversaturated for most things, and we haven't even made all the accessories and such to fill those up. We just don't have room to make very many more items, which also explains why there hasn't been another item naming contest; what would we name?

 

i think requiem still fits the wand, not really “watery” based at all, and desperado sounds pretty boring and forgetable imo, the best part of requiem was its epic name (def not because it’s an unintended jojo reference.)

A few items got renamed in this update. Item renames aren't that uncommon. They're used when we deem it necessary to fit the new style and it isn't much hassle. It doesn't even create legacy items!

 

So, yes. I did just let him change a wand name, like that, since Requiem didn't really fit the wand anymore.

 

But requiem fits with literally any element, how is it water based at all and how is it not considered appropriate for thunder/fire based? Keep a cool name a cool name, and not fuck it up with name that most of the community does not like.

 

I disagree, requiem fits very well imo. If I was a dev I would listen to my community, and not just one guy tbh. I personally think it was a bit rash someone just being allowed to change such a great named item into that, why not just rename a rare no-one cares about or something??

 

The reasoning behind the name Requiem was kind of the same reasoning as Lament got; it was meant to be a put-to-rest deal around sadness and healing the soul so as to allow one to pass on easier. With the changes it got turning into thunder/fire, that name and association no longer fit.

 

I still think requiem fits, as it is not only meant to represent healing and mourning the death through sadness but through vengeance from death, requiem is pretty broad so I still don't see the reason why you named it desperado. Requiem fits with fucking everything, and I don't know how desperado fits with thunder or fire.

 

Yeah, that's true actually. It doesn't fit as much, but I think it does still fit. Although another more religious wand may fit better. How cool would an actual golden cross as a wand be XD
