I played wynn back in 2015 and I came back a week ago, Im impresse by the updates they made.

There was a quest outside Ragni named poisoning the pest and I can see that when I entered the farm I got teleported to another map simulating the same farm, after spreading the pest into the water there was this really cool animation they did with the water bottle. And after that there was this cinematic that ended up in the corrupted guy dying. After that whenever I enter the farm every thing is destroyed, as when new players enter they see everything as before, so basically they are storing dozens of individual maps per players uuid
    or how is this possible?

In MMORPGs there is a mechanic called Phasing where players after completing a certain event like saving a princess from a Tower, once they go back the tower they wont see the princess anymore, however players who havent made the quest yet are stil able to see her.

    Congrats to the developers

We have 2 different systems, our cutscene system and the base quest system - The cutscene system is more recent so can be seen in the newer more advanced quests, but the base quest system can also be seen in those newer and the older quests. We try to mix both of them, they are custom made plugins Oo

Im aware of the custom plugins, however for the cinematics they are actually using a different world map for each individual player while doing the cinematics apparently

It's just teleporting the player to different off-map areas that contain copies of the surroundings.

What I don’t think has been explained - how the NPCs and blocks can vary between players: this is done with something called packet interception, this is where you directly alter the data that minecraft sends to the client, without using tools like bukkit/spigot. This is complicated to do, because even though there are tools for doing this (like ProtocolLib), it is rather hard to code as you have to get into the obsfucated minecraft jar.

I am not sure if you were asking how to do so because you wanted to do it yourself, if so then that is how I would do it. If not, then this explanation isn’t worth much.

Minox, RicRicc and Druser like this.
