Dwelling Walls Is Broken (and A Few Other Things)

So I press the button until the carpet is grey then I go upstairs and spent 20 minutes trying to find the stupid button. It wasn't there so I left the mansion and just did another quest. The same thing happened on the level 32 quest in Amuj about thieves (Can't quite recall the name), and the command block stopped working so I was stuck there forever (until I did /kill). Whenever I place down my boat, It disappears. 10 minutes later it appears in the inventory. WHY. Why are these things happening, pls explain.

 

The quest is working fine, and is fully completable at the moment. It sounds like you're either misunderstanding something, or trying to complete the quest via a poor guide though, in which case, maybe try another one, or try to complete it through your own observations?

If you're trying to place your boat in an invalid position, your client can still sometimes register that as a proper placement, visually removing the item from your inventory. However, the server still knows the location isn't valid, and doesn't spawn one, nor actually remove it from your inventory. Whenever that slot is updated in your inventory, the client and server should sync back up, making the item visible to you again.

so, can someone tell what is meant to happen in dwelling walls, I've pressed the button all 8 times explored the whole house but can't get the book. Can someone just tell me how?
