I did reroll a single item and all it seemed to do was change the attributes on it, and I noticed that after the first reroll the price spiked heavily so I opted not to do it again.
I imagine its good to reroll because then you might get lucky and get better stats, but I just don't know. Is there anything more to it?

Secondary question, is there a search bar or anything for looking up certain words in a forum around here? I feel like an absolute noob making this thread, but it couldn't be helped because I couldn't find a search bar and after scrolling through a few pages of questions I could only find threads asking unrelated questions about rerolling rather than what it actually does.

I'm new as of April 1st and I'm looking forward to spending a good amount of time with Wynncraft in the future. Thank you in advance for helping out!

    1) Rerolling is gambling your item’s identifications. Like you probably knew, it’s just luck based to either get worse identifications (ids) or better ids. People reroll to potentially get better ids so they could either sell it for a higher price or use it. People also reroll an item with potentially good stats to again sell it or use it themselves. (Why mythics are rerolled a lot)

edit: if you didn’t know already identifications are (most of the time) changeable stats of an item. They can be changed by a) rerolling and b) getting another of the same item. for example item a can have an identification of 10% health increase to 20% health increase. Which all depends on how lucky you are to get the 20%.

2nd edit: clarification: Identifications aren’t all changeable, would like to point that out. Some ids will be flat all the time.

if my explanation sucked or isn’t enough here is a full guide: https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/stats-and-identifications-guide.246308/ by @Druser

    2) There is a search bar on the homepage. I believe it is on the sidebar.

    Hope this helped you out.

    Thanks for your reply!

What exactly is an id? Are those the little things like "6% XP bonus" or "10% Thunder Damage"?

Do you think it's worth wading through the Wynncraft wiki for information like this (is it all accurate and up to date, mostly)?

i explained ids in my edited post. if you want more clarification it is in that post I linked. And yes, those are ids, but some of them aren’t changeable. (like hive items)

And the wiki is currently outdated right now, and is still being worked on. The forums are pretty good with guides and learning the game.

Note that for the majority of items, the selling price isn't high enough that rerolls are worth it, excepting some low-level items with relatively high value like Rarity. The most commonly rerolled items by far are mythics - blowing 6 LE or even a full stack on a reroll might be worth it if the price goes up 3 or 4 stacks, or even several times that for something like a Discoverer.

What is a stack? I figure it must be stacks of emeralds in one of their forms. Is that right?

Yes, when people refer to a stack they mean a stack of LE

Also, there are mods (wynntils) that will tell you in-game which ids are re-rollable and what their range are plus the % to get a worse or better roll.
Plus, there is https://wynndata.tk that has all items and their ranges.

An LE from the comment above is worth 64 blocks of emeralds, which is 4096 emeralds. It stands for liquified emerald. A stack of emeralds would be worth 262144 emeralds. So don't worry about anything that costs stacks until after a long time.

As for the question I quoted, https://www.wynndata.tk/items/ is the best place to use to find how good ids can be for any item. Both the wiki and the item guide on the official site are far too outdated.

    As for the search bar:
    upload_2019-4-5_18-30-57.png
It's on the right part of the main page in between the 'connect with our community' and 'staff online now' parts.
If you don't know what the main page is, when you scroll all the way up on this page, around the left-most corner you can see
Forums > The Realm Of Wynncraft > Wynncraft > Questions
Click on forums to get to the main page.

    Basic principle of rerolls,

You have a Vaward, let's say it's 27 sp. Maybe you can sell this for 5-6 LE, it's @ good roll. You could spend around half an LE to reroll, but there's a good chance of getting a worse roll. Even if you get, say, 30-32 so on the reroll, that might sell for 8-10 LE, which is not a massive price increase, and it's extremely hard to get good rolls on a Vaward - getting 32 sp requires at least two max rolls, which is a 1 in 10,000 chance, not counting needing to get good rolls on the others as well. It's probably not worth rerolling because you'll probably lose money.

You have a Discoverer, first identification is about 1 LE and you get 98% loot bonus. Could be worth maybe 6-10 stacks (guesstimate). But for a Discoverer, 98% is on the low side. You can reroll for about 5 LE, and more likely than not you'll get a better roll - if you get, say, 150% you could probably sell that for 12-15 stacks. If you get a 130% on the first reroll, it's probably worth rerolling again - lose half a stack, but have a good chance to gain a ton, since 180%-200% Discoverer sells for 25-40 stacks. The value of a reroll is mainly determined by the ratio between market price and identification cost - the higher this ratio, the more profitable it is to reroll.
