Well there is one requisite.... if you are not LGBT then this guild isn't for you ;P

Hi guys! My name is HeckinGay, and I have a guild specifically for LGBT members! This means a lot to me to host a community for us to have a good sense of fellowship and feel connected to each other! Of course we will function as a guild in the future, but right now, this is mostly a community based guild much like Lir :) That said, I do have other things to say:

    - We need high level people to farm xp for the guild so I can invite more members. This is not a requirement at all but it will be GREATLY appreciated!
-I am looking for people with experience in moderating small communities like guilds in order to help organize things. I am a very busy gay dood and I dont always have time to moderate the guild, especially when Im asleep during the day (night shifter struggles D:)!
-Please be nice! I would hate to kick any of you guys in the future for being bad sports, and this community means a lot to me. You'd basically break my gay heart :( We dont want that, and so we should all work towards harmony! :D

Additionally, I have a Discord for ANY LGBT members, you dont even have to join my guild! :) Just dm me on here to get a link to it! Again, being LGBT is the only requirement :) When you join, go into the role application chat and @ me with your orientation and I will give you a role! We have roles for almost every main affiliation and we are still adding more! :D

Remember to get out there and live yor proud gay lives yall \o/

I always thought the LGBT was a nice and accepting community but I feel like I already got kicked out before even trying to join.

I mean... yeah... I thought we are all just humans after all and we should stick together... but what you are doing is simply dividing the LGBT from others.

Not trying to offend you in any way or to make you feel bad.

I mean, some people just don't feel comfortable being around specific others, there isn't really any way we can fix that as its just part of human nature, yes it would be nice if they open the guild to everyone, but I see their reasoning, the guild is filled with people with similar situations, and some people outside of the LGBT community can be rude or even harmful, I'm not saying all or most of em do that but there is a small percentage. They making the guild to be able to connect with people in similar situations, even to help the people in the community who haven't come out to their family (like me) It would be polite however to open the discord to the public, and have a strict set of rules on hate speech @Aurafiere.

I understand that you are not trying to be offensive or demeaning, I assure you that your thought is actually rather valid! Allow me to explain

I had a decision to make yesterday. I did not make it clear in one of my shouts that the guild and discord was only for LGBT members, and when someone joined the discord and I asked how they identified so that I could give them a role within the server, they told me they were straight. My boyfriend was at my house at the time and I had added a few more people and some previous additions were online. I wrestled with the option of keeping this person or explaining to them that the Discord/Guild was only for LGBT community members and having them leave. My decision was difficult... On one side of the coin, if I let this person stay, then that means I would eventually have to let any members join, whether they were straight or not. The pro to this was that we gained support and yes, decreased our division. On the other side of the coin, as this process took place, and I invited people regardless, then the Discord loses the purpose that I had for it, and that was to create a community full of us without fear in the minds any younger members, and a sense of fellowship between all of us and most notably our older members. And alternately, if I kicked this person or let them leave after telling them the reason why, I then would maybe have to deal with thoughts like this from the community, but I would also be keeping my vision and my passion for creating an LGBT only community. I could not make this decision by myself. After talking to my boyfriend about it, I then asked the members what they thought. Some said we should have kept him, but one of the members asked what was their specific reason for joining regardless. So we let them come up with a response, and they said that 'most of their friends were gay, and they liked the LGBT community and wanted to make friends because they were fairly new.' All of the members decided that we should let him stay, so that was my decision. While I thought that it did not line up with my ORIGINAL plan and I thought it was not a good enough reason, their intentions were true and that is what I cared about. Will this situation determine future instances? Most likely! But right now as this community is still small and I am still trying to grow it with LGBT members, right now this one person shall remain the only non-LGBT member of the discord. Truthfully, it gladdens my heart to have non-LGBT members that support us :)

As a proud lesbian, you should let allies in. Obviously if someone doesn't like gays, why would they join you? We had a "gay club" in my old high school, and they changed the name to GSA - Gay-Straight Alliance. With just the name of the guild, it'll attract gay members in general. It's nice to have people in similar situations, but you shouldn't exclude people who for entirely for you. Good luck with the guild, and I hope to see your community grow <3

Thank you for your input :) If you would still like to join the discord, you can, as it is standalone from the guild. As of now I have yet to make a decision as to what I am going to do regarding this matter, but right now in order to... well... keep some sense of order, I need to become more well maintained in these communities to reach the point where I will even consider this massive influx of people, if I am to choose to start inviting people who support us as well as our members. (As an aside, my sister has that same club in her high school and is a part of it :D)

Further to our conversation in PMs i thought id summarise my thoughts here.

I completely agree with the comments above, and creating a community that excludes the majority of non-LGBT is still going to cause division.
Its a very nice thought to create a safe-space for the LGBT wynn community but i think instead, as carrie said above, you should be focusing less on recruiting and more on setting your discord up with moderators and guidelines so you can promote the friendships between LGBT members and others.

In my view, being a guild where being LGBT is a requirement is the same as being a guild that excludes someone for being LGBT.

I understand the thoughts and reasons behind creating an LGBT only guild, but hiding like a turtle in its shell is only going to cause more issues.
Id be happy to give you my full support when it becomes a guild promoting equality and friendships which accepts everyone.
