I have been contemplating if it is worth saving materials and ingredients, and if spending my time doing so is a waste.

Are crafting materials worth saving in storage?
Are crafting ingredients worth saving in storage?
Are only specific ingredients / materials and or certain levels worth saving?
Is there a use for lower levels materials / ingredients?

Basically my main thought process is; am I wasting a bunch of time collecting and saving both materials and ingredients for as many as possible? From what I have understood in game, I'm slightly leaning towards only saving ingredients.

What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

If you don't care about crafting you can discard materials without much worries imo. Worst case, they're often sold on the market for relatively cheap. However, you should sell the ingredients you don't want on the market (which is down atm), especially the high tier ones as you can make a bit of profit from them.

Low level ingredients can be useful for the XP bonus they give when you craft. And since the ingredient progression is much flatter than items, you can find some low/mid-level ingredients useful even at higher levels.

Thank you very much for the detailed reply Salted. If that's the worst case for materials, I will probably value ease of mind over trying to collect and manage tons of them. ( I'd just dump them into profession XP )

For now I'll keep collecting ingredients for the uses you pointed out as I can collect or find them without going out of my way and they are both fun to collect and easy to manage!

i keep most of them around, never know when you might want to make a new character with a God Tier weapon for their level.
( or just spam create oak wands and sell them)
