I'm Out

Fucking hell.

So yay, I'm finally leaving, which I feel is something I should've done a long time ago. I'm sad to say that I'm kinda leaving on a negative note and that's because of a whole lot of things really. These forums overall have just changed.

Lots of people leave and new people join and that's great and all, but that's left me in a somewhat strange position. Sure I have over a thousand messages and even more likes and that's more than enough for me, but I don't feel that any of that comes from genuine interaction and recognition within the community, but rather from either me not being myself or just some low-effort post that I know will get lots of likes. My legacy on these forums is rather a collection clichés, of pretence and not of the things that define me as a person. Whenever I post anything here that I actually care about it's drowned by all the other stuff on here, yet whenever I post a mediocre joke or whenever I'm nice enough to someone, that's when people care. If the things that define me on these forums differ from the things that define me as a person then I don't really see any point in me staying here anymore.

Secondly, I think that the level of immaturity from both staff and the CT lately has been unprecedented and has left me not caring about the game in general, make of that what you will. On top of that, the recent update hasn't really incentivised me to continue playing and while I did delete one of my classes with plans to do a sixth playthrough of the game, I quickly realised that it was neither worth my time nor effort and decided to drop it. I know this paragraph has already pissed off a lot of people so I'll just leave it at that.

I feel the same about the forums in general really. In the past I've defended the community against people saying Wynncraft is toxic. I probably still could, but that doesn't stop me from taking a long look and seeing that the community as a whole is more divided than I can ever remember it being. So much so that you could probably divide these forums into the 'sucking-the-CT's-cock' part and the 'relentlessly-slamming-the-CT' part. People are frowned upon or just straight up ignored if they're not nice enough. An insult to my person I can handle, not an insult to my intelligence.

All in all, I can't really tell if being a part of this community has been a good or bad experience for me. At times I've had great fun, but there's no doubt that I have made more enemies than friends on here, even if the latter usually stick around longer. Having said that, I'll probably still be here for a small while after posting this to answer questions (if people care enough) and whatnot.

@Dr Zed Even though he left, I still felt it was appropriate to put him on here, because this is exactly the kind of person I appreciate. Someone who isn't afraid to address a problem and always at least makes you listen to him out of his pure understanding of the situation.
@ThomAnn100 You're pretty much 30% of my likes and just generally a great guy.
@Bramblesthatcat You're also way to many of my likes and I feel kinda bad because part of me probably wouldn't have put you on here if you weren't. You're a great person though and I'm sorry if that came across as rude.
@Druser You kind of appeared out of nowhere to me, but I feel like you've been generally helpful to these forums and also forever curious it seems.
Also fuck I forgot who else should be on this list.

@Moss Because I frankly don't appreciate shitposters, but then again, where's that shoutbox at.
@SethPRG Because I don't like you, but I appreciate your opinion in most cases and the music in the your work section is mostly trash if I'm being honest.

Just kidding not gonna put this here, because that would be airing dirty laundry and if I don't like you you'd probably know that already. Also if I were to make a list it would probably be longer than this thread.

Tangent: this is the second forum I've followed/been a serious member of for a while (lurked for about half a year before joining, and also back in 2014 the first time I played), and I've noticed a general trend in both of people becoming nicer and more refined over time. Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

 

Yeah, it does seem like people are becoming nicer overall. This is the only minecraft server community I’ve seen where for the most part people don’t instantly go to personal insults when someone criticises them, and people are usually pretty kind and helpful.

As for the thread here - While I never actually talked to you directly, you seemed like a good person. Good luck in your future ventures!

Guess that's just my mindset in most cases. On a side note, this means that I've finally ended my fluffering.

I've been less active around here for a while. The only reason I'm staying is because of a d&d campaign I'm in. I just kind of stopped caring about the forums after the update and I hoped the threads would get interesting again after a while but that really wasn't the case for me. I feel like the content on here really went downhill.
